Changing Hands is a great bookstore and a great hangout! There is a wide selection of fiction and non fiction and children’s books and they will order anything not in stock. Excellent collection of books on Arizona, in particular. The store also has lots of good gifts, from windchimes to cool notebooks to felted shawls, as well as calendars and such. First Draft has a good selection of coffees, teas, beer and wines as well as snacks ( the hot pretzel with dipping cheese is a crowd favorite). The big room with the fireplace is a lovely place to sit and read, to meet friends, or just to have coffee. Every second Sunday evening, the room is packed with all the teams competing in the trivia contest, which is an ever more popular event for Phoenicians of all ages and interests.

100% worth stopping in, browsing the stacks, finding the book or gift items you need to find and then having a drink or coffee at the First Draft bar area. A splendid, wonderful, bookstore with the best book vibes that you could want. Definitely stop in and find your next great read. Kick back amongst the volumes of vast literature that will pleasantly surprise you 🙂 Loved this location and can’t wait to come back. 🙂

Changing Hands is super great and cozy. They have a thing for cats, wich is awesome. We laugh a lot with the funny mem magnets the have. The store has great deals and discounts. So, books, cats, gadgets and funny stuff are the deal.

I have mixed feelings about this spot. On one hand, the quality of the book selection is fantastic. It is a smaller space, but that actually works in its favor—it feels like every book on the shelf was chosen with care, which really shows off the quality of the shop. Plus, having a built-in bar with local beer is a unique and awesome touch that makes browsing much more enjoyable. However, the customer service was definitely lacking. The staff were unfortunately rude and quite impatient during our visit. While we were trying to check out, we were ignored for a while because the coworkers were busy talking to each other. When they finally did acknowledge us, they just told us to go to the next counter instead of helping. Great books and a cool atmosphere, but the service needs a major upgrade.

This place is so cute. Their shop is exquisite. So many cute unique gift items. They don’t just have books they have candles, trinkets, stationary, home decor, candies and chocolate, games, toys and a bar! There is a nice seating area to sit and read or study or chat quietly. Also a full bar in the middle. I will be coming back again

The best spot to bring anyone! They have drinks, books, Knick knacks and anything else. A book lover and somebody who likes kitschy things will enjoy. It’s a great local find and spot to spend your money because no big company deserves it. The way this shop does. I would spend every day here. If I could. You can study here. You can relax here. You can read here and every book lovers dream!

The location is easy access from roads with decent parking. I really appreciated the combination of book store, and a cafe together. The vibe is both hipster contemporary with a dash of intellegista. There’s a nice range of local based literature and gift items. The curated range of literature is just enough from each section. It’s not too vast in areas but also seems to cater to local tastes (lots of fiction and romance). But, there’s genuinely a good range for a wide assortment of tastes. The Cafe is also spacious and great place to read. I spent nearly $100 on books and it would have been nice to get a complimentary coffee or tea from the café…something for them to think about. Overall, if I lived here in Phoenix this would be one of my holy places. It’s also great for tourists like myself, especially if you want to dig into local stories and subjects.

Lots of religious items some things cheap and other items are expensive. I spent a good amount of time in the store because of the amount of inventory they have to look at. I was looking for a candle of the sacred heart of Jesus and no doubt I found one. Definitely worth the drive getting there. I will be back for a rosary, they are beautiful. ✝️

It is an amazing place, however I will say their selections are small and they definitely cater to more of the Catholic faith while still having things for the broader Christian faith that some denominations may use.

I love going to this store but I was a little disappointed this time I just went. The middle section was filled with home decor and it made the store look off. I love seeing the entire store with Catholic items and it wasn’t the vibe. Hopefully it’s just temporary.

It’s a small store with a section of Japanese and some Thai and Vietnamese snacks, (Thailand-only Lay chips, or Japan-only KitKat, for example) as well as Japanese character pens, and gifts etc. A large part of the store , however, is just cheap dollar store type stuff like stationary, plastic cups, napkins, some knock -off anime character trinkets, etc. Some have Japanese or Chinese writing or patterns but ultimately nothing that special. Come for the snacks (also has refrigerated Japanese cakes, drinks, etc -nice!) but don’t expect a massive high end Japanese grocery store.

I had never heard of this store until I saw a video about it on Instagram. I was so excited to go here. Turns out, it’s located in a shopping center I’ve been visiting for years! I just never noticed Cutie tucked away in the corner. This store is small and the aisles are narrow. However, it is stocked full of so many cute and fun things. Cutie sells snacks, drinks, ingredients for meals, stickers, cute and serious office and school supplies, baby items, health and beauty items, home goods, automotive and camping supplies, and kitchenware. There’s even a tiny clearance section for food! It’s really a lot packed into the small store. Most items are priced at $1.75, which I guess is approximately the equivalent of 100 yen. Items that cost more (or less) are clearly marked. I bought Hello Kitty stickers to share with a friend, some reduced price snacks, and a bottle of vegan oyster sauce that was reduced almost $4! Wow! The workers were super friendly and seemed excited when my friend and I said it was our first time there. I would love to shop here again, and I want to check out the other Cutie location, which I’ve heard is bigger.

It’s a small store but it’s loaded with all sorts of items. Everything from hygiene and stationary to serving dishes and snacks. The prices are great and it’s a good store to visit when you have a random shopping list. I can’t name any other store where I can grab a bag of cotton balls and wasabi flavored sea weed snacks. Store clerks were also incredibly friendly. Will definitely return in the future.

Cutie, A Japanese Concept Store in Phoenix is a hidden gem for sure! A fantastic place for unique, cute, and useful items for everyday life to give as gifts or to keep for yourself. (They have so much variety, it’s incredible!) With everything priced at $1.75, other than food, it’s quite possible to take home many great finds. The small store is well stocked and organized. The staff looked busy stocking and were friendly enough. The parking lot seems narrow but there were plenty of spaces while I was there on a Friday afternoon. Expect to wear a mask if you want to shop there and there are no restrooms available for customers. These things are not deal-breakers for me and I thoroughly enjoyed my experience at Cutie. Looking forward to visiting the Mesa location!

We were excited to shop for Japanese snacks here. However, we spent $50 on snacks, all are final sale and all were very stale. If your store is final sale only you *need* to keep up on the expiration dates. Super frustrating.

The shopping experience varies depending on the staff availability and floor organization. While some visitors enjoy helpful service and personalized assistance, others may find the environment less accessible due to restrictive store policies.

Next to Joann’s, Michael’s use to be the place to go for a large yarn selection and good discount sales. No longer! I don’t know about other locations, but in the Maricopa county area, all their stores have shrunk the yarn and weaving tools section down to almost nothing! Not worth a trip to a brick and mortar site anymore. Online shopping has minimum advantages, but a lot of disappointing when you can touch the yarn, see the true color/tone and idea of the true yarn weight.

I had such a fantastic customer experience at Michael’s! I was about to check out at the self-pay when one of the team members came over with the biggest smile to assist me. Never in all my crafting life have I felt so uncomfortable at a Michael’s. Having to ask permission to test out pens?! And then the employee having to stand there the ENTIRE TIME?! That sucked for me AND her. She was very kind — but the management that decided to lock everything up really made the store feel unwelcoming. It was dirty and unorganized as a whole. Just did not like the vibe whatsoever. Craft shopping should be fun! I normally loveeeee it, but won’t go back to this location for sure.

Went to buy beading supplies, it was 15 min to closing time and I could not get anyone to help me find a specific item. I asked 3 times and the girl in the cashier area just ignored me. I ended up buying the wrong item. I went back the following day to return the item and purchase the correct one.(which was easy no problems ) Still not a lot of help from any employees, fortunately another customer helped me. This store has a huge selection of beads & a lot of other things, the store was well stocked. I used to work at Michaels in the late 1980’s. The selection of things has increased while the customer service has not. I made some cool things with the stuff I bought here, see below.

Palabra is an independent-eclectic bookstore strongly influenced by Latino Mexican roots. It is a house itself with tables, chairs and common spaces both outdoors and indoors. Roaming in it feels as hanging out at somebody’s home, from a warm welcoming host. Inside, there’s a jewelry, a plant shop, and a café. Every single worker is a warm host. They all embody community. Not the plastic one, the one that Latinos know. My reason from not giving them full stars is because the books they have that also Barnes and Nobles do, are more expensive than Barnes and Nobles. And Im not sure if the other more unconventional books feel overprice. Maybe it’s a me problem. They also have free book outside by the entrance. I recommend this place, even for a coffee hang out, or use their space to work within all the inspiring energy within.

Came in hoping to find a bilingual español/english book as I grow my comprehension muscles – and left with not only a stack of books underarm, but locally-made candles and Palestine fundraiser stickers. Super friendly & chill staff (with a very cute shop cat), and fabulous selection of queer, feminist, political, POC authors– along with the free food pantry items outside the shop and free books. What a major disappointment. It seems this store must be going out of business. I drove all the way from Chandler to get some watercolor paper and they were almost completely out of stock on every paper of this type that they carry. I honestly doubt if even 10% of their specially watercolor papers were in stock. Will most definitely never go there again – there’s no point. Only good thing was the employee who helped me, as she was nice and apologized for the extreme lack of stock.

A wonderful local art supply 🎨 love all the essentials, specialized items and their collection of paint markers (personal fav). Only thing is — prices are high, tbh. If they were a good 25%+ lower and/or had a great coupon/sale… then they’d match their competitors’ prices & I’d have filled up a cart instead of leaving with only a few small items 💕 Nonetheless the girls up front are super kind & I appreciate still seeing & supporting a mom & pop art store ✨

Local Nomad is a beautifully curated boutique in the Biltmore with a thoughtful mix of clothing, accessories, and home pieces. The merchandising and layout make the space enjoyable to explore, and it’s a great place to discover unique items you don’t see everywhere. One challenge is that it can be difficult to find assistance on the sales floor when shopping for clothing, even when considering higher-priced pieces. Their 14-day return policy also feels fairly limited for purchases at this price point. With a bit more support available for customers trying on clothing, the experience would match the lovely aesthetic and carefully curated selection.

Had a wonderful experience at Paper Source! The store is beautifully organized and filled with unique stationery, greeting cards, gift wrap, journals, planners, and creative gifts that are hard to find elsewhere. Everything feels thoughtfully curated, making it a fun place to browse whether you’re shopping for yourself or looking for a special gift. The staff was friendly, patient, and very helpful in offering recommendations without being pushy. Their attention to detail and creativity really added to the overall shopping experience. I especially loved the variety of high-quality paper products and seasonal items. The store has a warm, inspiring atmosphere that makes you want to spend time exploring every section. It’s perfect for anyone who enjoys crafting, journaling, or sending thoughtful handwritten notes. Prices can be a bit premium, but the quality and uniqueness of the products make it worthwhile. Overall, Paper Source is a fantastic stationery store with excellent customer service and a creative vibe. I’ll definitely be coming back for more gifts and stationery finds!

Was in today around 5:45pm-6:15pm looking for a planner and journal. While I was browsing the store, I smiled at the employee and she gave me a dirty look. I left after that, this place doesn’t deserve my hard working money if that’s how they’re going to treat people. The employee had dark hair with bangs and was heavier set, management really needs to reevaluate the type of environment their employees are creating for potential customers. Won’t be returning here ever again.

This Phoenix location offers a wide range of printing services and office supplies. While the staff often provides proactive assistance with technical tasks and custom projects, the level of consistency regarding professional communication and logistics can vary. Some interactions reflect a high standard of personalized care and helpfulness.

Customers can expect reliable product quality for business needs like signage and workbooks. However, challenges regarding delivery tracking and certain service interactions suggest room for improvement in operational coordination and consistent hospitality across all departments.

Paris and Nicole are awesome… I arrived to Phoenix to pick up my rental car from Turo and the car fob battery was dead. I walked into Staples and Paris heard me say that I needed to replace it and they quickly jumped to the rescue to replace it for me and got me on my way. What great customer service! Cannot recommend the staff here enough!

What an absolute rockstar of a team. We used their printing services for a business event (workbooks, signage, nametags). Serenity helped us at the printing desk and was a joy. Smiling faces and very helpful and welcoming staff, whoever is managing this team is doing a fantastic job. We will be using you all for our future printing needs! They were able to print off additional nametags same-day.

Poor customer service is always disappointing. I got on the phone with the printing department – introduced myself, and shared my request. They weren’t able to comply and so I thanked them for their help. Without saying a word, she hung up. I have had wonderful experiences at many other stores across the nation, given my travel for business. As the store manager said, maybe it’s due to other stores not following corporate policy and being more accommodating. But I would assume corporate policy encourages respectful behavior.

Paris & Dayana in the printing department were extremely helpful, professional and personable. I was having a problem sending in the file I needed printed and Paris assisted me with the whole process and made sure my items were printed to my liking. He took time to go above and beyond and it’s much appreciated!

I ordered same-day custom printing with courier delivery to my hotel. An hour after the promised delivery time, Staples told me the order was ready but hadn’t been picked up, and they couldn’t tell me when it would be. When I asked whether I would receive a notification when the package was picked up or delivered, I was told that Staples has no way of knowing if or when a package is delivered after the courier picks it up. Unreliable. The next day, the package was nowhere to be found with the bellman, concierge, or front desk. We eventually discovered an unlabeled Staples box sitting unattended on a table in the hotel lobby. The printing was fine, but the delivery service was completely unreliable. There was no visibility into the delivery status, no confirmation of delivery, and no accountability for ensuring the package reached the intended recipient.

Giftive serves as a functional hub for stationery and shipping needs in Phoenix. While the selection of greeting cards and souvenirs is standard, the logistical efficiency of the shipping services can be inconsistent. Visitors may find the pace of service varies depending on the time of day.

The establishment offers a convenient mailing location and a variety of local postcards. However, the customer service experience fluctuates, and shoppers should manage expectations regarding staffing availability during peak periods or near closing times.

I had such high anxiety that I was going to have to deal with grumpy workers having to buy a box to ship since I’ve had subpar experiences at USPS before. Wei was so good at multitasking, and still making me feel valued as a customer receiving efficient service. He weighed the box I brought the gift in to see if it would be better to ship that way, and overall made the process so painless and quick. I will make sure to come here to conduct my business from now on. Thanks so much for a great experience!

Literally the best post office i’ve ever been to. Amazing energy and attitudes and the staff is so helpful. I arrived at the time they were closing and Wei came from the back just to help me even though the closed sign was up. So happy that we still have great people and great hospitality within USPS. Appreciate you Wei!

Frequently asked questions about stationery stores in Phoenix

What is a stationery store and what does it provide?

A stationery store is a retail outlet that sells materials used for writing, printing, and general office organization. These stores typically stock items such as paper, pens, envelopes, and desk accessories. They serve as essential hubs for students, professionals, and hobbyists looking for high-quality supplies.

What is the difference between stationery and stationary?

The difference lies in the spelling and the meaning of the words. "Stationery" refers to writing materials like paper and envelopes, while "stationary" means something that is not moving or is fixed in one place. A helpful tip is to remember that "stationery" uses an "e" for "envelope."

How is stationery used and why is it important in an office?

Stationery is used to facilitate communication, documentation, and organized record-keeping within a workspace. It is important because it enhances productivity by providing the necessary tools for note-taking, filing, and professional correspondence. Having a well-stocked office ensures that daily administrative tasks can be completed efficiently.

    How should you store stationery?

Stationery should be stored in a dry, organized environment to prevent damage or clutter. Using bins, dividers, and labeled shelves helps keep items like pens, paper, and folders easily accessible. Proper storage also protects delicate items from moisture and dust, ensuring they remain in good condition for longer.
