MEGHAN CUMA

This place is AMAZING! Classic bagel breakfast sandwich, crispy thick bacon, and plenty of bagel options to choose from (I got the Eva). There is a drive through that works efficiently. All the staff are super friendly. I also got the iced Cubano coffee which was AMAZING (and came highly recommended). They also do a punch card for free coffee! Can’t wait to come back.

6 out of 5 stars! We were originally drawn to this coffee shop by one of the other reviews saying the bagels would satisfy a New Yorker’s craving. I’ll be the judge of that, I (a native New Yorker) thought. And Copper Star did not disappoint! The photo shows a hummus & roasted veggie filling on a toasted “Frankenstein” (everything + jalapeño and cheddar) bagel. The bagel was light and fluffy on the inside, with a nice bite on the outside. To be sure, they put their own stamp on the classic recipe (no, I don’t bake enough to know what it was exactly), but it was delicious and really scratched the bagel itch. The coffee and tea options were also terrific. That’s a “Banana Stand” in the photo – a combo of coffee, mocha and banana – and yes, yum! The other photo is the espresso oat cookie – one of at least a dozen different equally tempting bakery options. It did not last long, either. 🙂 The service was friendly, and the outdoor patio was just perfect. One of the folks at the counter mentioned that Copper Star is coming up on their 20th anniversary. Not surprising. Here’s to 20 more years!

I ordered an iced pistachio latte which I enjoyed! They have an impressive list of flavor options and the employee who rang us up was super nice! Their shop is great to sit and chitchat with a friend. The bathroom was a little concerning, but it’s possible I went in immediately after a messy customer. I can absolutely see why people like this coffee shop!

I had a quiet breakfast here and really enjoyed the experience. The coffee was fragrant and smooth, while the toast and eggs were simple but nicely prepared. The tables were clean and the staff were attentive without interrupting my meal. It felt calm even though there were several customers around. A nice way to start the day.

This place is 10/10 – the people, vibe, aesthetics. My boyfriend likes going to coffee places to find the best cappuccino and he rates theirs at 8.7/10 – had a really nice foam on top (couple of inches) and it was smooth. We also tried the huckleberry latte (hot) and it was both our favorite. The huckleberry wasn’t too overpowering, just perfect! Came here around 10am on a Saturday and although it seemed like it was crowded, we got our order fast and there were seats available. We spent 16$ plus tip for 3 drinks. The bathroom was spacious and clean. Love this place, has so much character!

This place rules!! What caught my eye first was the lovely menu. I loudly and immediately commented on how nice the menu was and the bartender, Sammy, told me he drew it all himself! Sammy continued to make us amazing drinks, each one topping the last. The service was absolutely amazing. The drinks were fantastic. The vibes were proverbially “on fleek!” Overall, Sammy was the best bartender I’ve ever had and he genuinely made me want to leave my house more and grew my faith in humanity as a whole.

Cocktails are on perfect—Thalia, Gabriella, Maria-Maria, James, and more are amazing mixologists! Chorizo Biscuits and Gravy with two eggs on top is sooo good! Músic is always good regardless of the genre playing! This is my Happy place for day drinking and breakfast!

Lux Central is just a pure Phoenix thing. I felt it is definitely one of the best all-around places in Phoenix for coffee, food, and a laid-back atmosphere. It feels local, relaxed, and totally in tune with the city’s vibe. The selection of pastries, drinks, and food is great, and everything has a unique taste that stands out from the usual coffee shop options. They even have a cocktail bar, so you can easily spend the whole day moving from coffee to a nice drink. The chocolate burnt cake was 5/5 It’s a great spot to work, chill, or hang out with friends. Very cool vibes and a trendy spot for many. The coffee was good but on the pricier side. I would like to come back and try their deserts and meal items as their menu is extensive. Overall a much better place than your normal mainstream coffee shop that is sort of a hidden gem.

A vibrant Saturday morning well spent in this restaurant. I loved my Avocado Farro bowl and my friend enjoyed his eggs benedict special. I also got a cup of tea for my couple hours of work. I appreciate the large communal space, which is a large table at the center of the restaurant. While it was a busy day with lots of diners, I somehow was able to focus even more. The WiFi is strong, by the way.

Finally checked out this neighborhood spot on Central Ave in Phoenix. We got there about 9:30 and it was slightly crowded but manageable. You place your order at the counter and then are given a table to wait for your food. It was Sunday am and breakfast was being served. The orders came out quickly and looked good. Although the breakfast tacos definitely needed some flavor/seasoning. Very bland tasting. The omelette was a good size but the bread served with us was hard. Interior seems nice and the service was good. They also have a full bar with open seating.

32nd Shea never disappoints. I decided to visit them today since most likely be moving back into the neighborhood and living within a close proximity of their restaurant. One of the employees suggested I get the Thai Chicken Bowl and this thing was unbelievable. In the past, I was a regular customer here, especially since I lived next door at Rancho Sierra Apartments. The large lightly iced white mocha was delicious as expected. It’s really incredible how they’ve changed this building from its original design but I really do like what they did. When I used the bathroom just before eating, I was extremely pleased to see that they still kept that crazy psychedelic looking light show in the bathroom. That’s always something very unique and I’ve never seen any restaurant but them do that out here in the valley.

First time here and glad we came. Coffee was really good and we both got bacon breakfast burritos which were good. The green salsa served with them was excellent. If I had to complain about one thing the bacon was a little lite, will try the short rib burrito next time. Great little outdoor patio with a fountain to help the vibe.

32Shea is truly a neighborhood gem! It’s one of those rare places that works just as well for morning coffee and breakfast as it does for lunch, dinner, or drinks. Their coffee and tea are excellent, and they have fresh sandwiches and salads for lunch. The dinner menu is great too, and the bruschettas are delicious and perfect for sharing. I also love that they keep things interesting with special dinner events and monthly food and drink specials. The atmosphere is one of my favorite things about 32Shea. Inside feels intimate and cozy, while the patio is open and inviting with lots of greenery and a fountain. It’s such a great spot to sit outside and relax. They have both a coffee bar and a full bar, and somehow they manage to do both really well! The staff is also fantastic. Many of the same people have been there for quite a while, and they’re always friendly and welcoming. I’ve been coming to Jobot for years, but I felt compelled to leave a review because the food has been absolutely outstanding lately. Over the past month or so, there has been a noticeable improvement in the kitchen, and every meal I’ve had has been fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. The coffee and atmosphere have always been great, but the food has truly reached another level. You can tell there’s a lot of care and attention going into the menu, and it shows in both the quality and consistency. If you’ve visited before and haven’t been back recently, do yourself a favor and give the food another try. Roosevelt Row has always had plenty of great places to eat and drink, but Jobot’s kitchen is really stepping up its game. Looking forward to coming back and trying more of the menu.

I want to love this place so bad because I hear the food is good. But most times I come they are closed when they say online they are open. I managed to get inside ti the bar once and didn’t get served for 10 minutes so I left. It’s also very hot and uncomfortable inside. I’m not sure if it’s because they leave the doors open or they don’t use AC or both. It’s across the street from me so I’d happily come for breakfast and dinner all the time if they’d have me.

Excellent! Chorizo burrito tasted well balanced, packed, and a hefty portion. Chile verde also tender and flavorful with fresh pressed tortillas. Super clean rendition of Mexican brunch IMO. Lemon ricotta pancakes were light and airy and the perfect palate cleanser to the entrees. Very well executed overall and service was noticeable and respectable. Couldn’t recommend this place enough. It was delicious! I got the burrito and my girlfriend got the breakfast sandwich. The chorizo in the burrito was awesome and my gf couldn’t stop raving about the sandwich. The lemonade was freshly squeezed and the brown sugar iced espresso was perfect bold and rich flavors. When I come to fair trade I usually order coffee and it’s a hit or miss some days. This time I wanted to switch it up to something a little sweet. I ended up ordering a strawberry matcha with a double matcha. So, I’ve ordered this drink a few times I know how it should taste and look like. The girl at the register was fine taking our orders. But idk, what was going on with our drinks bc they were not it. Plus, it looked like the barista did not want to be there. She was the only one making the drinks and on top of that my drink was not worth the money I spent. I seen how she was making other peoples drinks and they looked like she shorted people and the foam on the double matcha was added on sloppy. Both drinks did not taste sweet it was more milky and I only got a tiny dry strawberry. I’m sorry for the owners but they really need either retrain their team or have them understand customer service better. It literally makes me not want to order another matcha from them.

I appreciated the friendly and welcoming service at this café. Also liked the layout, which had a mix of different seating options, including regular tables, sofas, and bar stools. Clever use of mirrors to make the place seem more open. I had the matcha flight, which was very well presented. My favorite was the coconut cream matcha because of its balance of flavor and sweetness. Parking in the adjacent garage was free for 2 hours from the posted signage.

Went here on the way home from a trip I got the banana matcha, which was very good although one thing to note is that it is on the sweeter side, so I would recommend getting it less sweet. My friend got the strawberry matcha, which he unfortunately wasn’t a huge fan about. He said it lacked a lot of strawberry flavor, and my other friend got the jefita iced, which I personally really enjoyed I think all the flavors really blend well together.

Lines were long and it was worth every moment in the end. We came on a very busy Sunday determined to try the Matcha Flight and some breakfast. To my pleasant surprise they had more than one flight with their Matha Madness themed flight which included the ube matcha I was dying to try. We ended our order with their matcha madness flight, regular matcha flight, Cubano sandwich and avocado toast. We were given a number and told our food would come out of us and to listen for our drink ordered they called by name. Everything came out fairly quick. They were quite busy so we expected it. Our food was delicious. I loved the avocado toast and all its flavor. Our drinks were phenomenal! All were so good, but my fave was definitely the Ube, banana and probably earl gray third. However the strawberry was a top contender. We lucked out and found a small table near the window for the two of us. There is also a patio out back. If you’re unaware and downtown gives you anxious vibes regarding parking don’t fret because there’s a parking garage directly behind the building with two hour free parking. Easy in and out with driveways on each side of the building or enter. Prices were fair for what we ordered an even with how busy they were service was still great. Did I mention the Ube mMatcha was so good we ordered two more to go ? You gotta live a little!

Fair Trade Café is such a special spot in Downtown Phoenix. The quality of the ingredients really stands out—you can taste the care and intention that goes into everything they serve. (My go to’s – strawberry matcha + banana toast.) What I appreciate most is how beautifully they celebrate and support Latina culture and the local community. As a Latina myself, it means so much to see a business create a space that embraces our culture, supports local people, and gives back to the community in such a genuine way. Definitely a place worth supporting when you’re in DTPhx! ☕️✨

Lola Coffee has a really great atmosphere and is a solid spot to grab coffee or hang out for a bit. My favorite drink is off menu—the Matador topped with their homemade whipped cream. It’s simple but so good, and the whipped cream really takes it to the next level. Overall, a great coffee shop with a standout drink that keeps me coming back.

My boyfriend and I got their fall flavor coffees, pecan pie latte and the pumpkin blanco. I i wouldn’t say that mine tasted like a pumpkin pie, but it was decent it’s not very sweet it is more coffee forward. My boyfriend’s pumpkin latte was really good though.Very on the sweet side, especially cuz. It’s made with white mocha. The whipped cream is so interesting. It’s like a Brown whipped cream. And when you taste it, it has sort of a Brown sugar flavor which is perfect for fall. We’ll definitely try again

Cute coffee shop with classic coffee selections, pastries. and breakfast burritos. I really like that you can make your own custom burrito. Good breakfast option in neighborhood for vegetarians or vegans.

Fun local coffee shop with a “friends” vibe! The in house bakery makes the baked goods and sandwiches… YUM! MANY coffee and tea choices and options. Definitely a hip crowd! If you’re in downtown Phoenix – go have fun and enjoy!

I picked this stop because I liked the look and feel of the tucked away back patio. I live north of town in the desert so I enjoyed the feel of being in town… listening to the fan whir at the laundromat next door and seeing the tall city buildings in view. I enjoyed the cheese and potato pastry, although a bit dry (as most non-made in house items get). The Matador coffee is one of the best coffees I’ve had in a while. I think after so many trendy and gimmicky drinks that I’ve had over time, the Matador was a comfy reminder of why coffee is good.

The establishment provides attentive service and occasionally features live music to enhance the setting. For convenience, the south side parking lot provides a much safer exit than the north side options.

3/28/26: overall, a solid four-star rating. Drinks: nothing fancy, just went with Cokes & waters. Food: mushroom Swiss burger w/ fries, cowboy breakfast, and a cinnamon roll. The tortilla w/ the breakfast was hot & so delicious, as was the other food items. The exception was the cinnamon roll; it was a bit too dry. Service: it was good, had a couple different gals help us out with drinks & the food. The cafe was not overly crowded while we were there. Oh, they had a gentleman there playing the guitar. That was a nice touch. Parking: if you’re brave, there’s parking on the north side, backing out onto Thomas Rd. Yikes. We won’t do that again. Otherwise, there’s a large lot on the south side of the building, way safer to exit. 🙂

I’m so glad I found this place! Came for breakfast on a Sunday morning and was pleasantly surprised at the relaxed environment. I got the French toast combo and the French toast was amazing. Everything else was also great too including the mimosa! More than fair pricing, I’ll definitely be back !

First time trying 5th Avenue Cafe and it’s easily one of the best breakfast spots in Phoenix. The service was outstanding. Friendly, attentive, and welcoming from the moment we walked in. The atmosphere is relaxed and comfortable, making it a great place for a casual breakfast or brunch. The food was exactly what you want from a top breakfast restaurant. Fresh, hot, and full of flavor. The pancakes were light and perfectly cooked, and the eggs and sausage were done just right. You can tell they focus on quality. If you’re looking for a great breakfast or brunch in Phoenix, I highly recommend 5th Avenue Cafe. I’ll definitely be coming back.

I came here with my boyfriend who suggested we check it out. All I can say I am picky about my drinks. I love my drinks a certain way. I like them more on the sweeter side with not so much alcohol. Something that has that after punch effect. The bartender that day made me an amazing drink that was Coconut flavored and it was so good. The food was really good. The atmosphere was nice and they even had a live guitarist playing some nice tunes as we dined… I love the beautiful setup and layout as well.

We got here at 7:30am on a Sunday morning right as it opened. Very good service and food. We loved it. We had an omelette with fruit and an oatmeal. There are so many choices to select from.

Frequently asked questions about coffee shops in Phoenix

What is a coffee shop and how does it differ from a cafe or bistro?

A coffee shop is a commercial establishment primarily focused on serving prepared coffee, espresso, and tea beverages. While often used interchangeably with cafes, coffee shops typically prioritize a wide variety of coffee drinks, whereas cafes may offer a broader selection of food or a more relaxed lounging atmosphere. Bistros differ further by focusing more heavily on light meals and savory snacks rather than being primarily a beverage destination.

How much does a coffee shop cost?

The cost of a coffee shop varies significantly depending on whether you are referring to the price of a cup of coffee or the overhead of operating a business. For consumers, prices in Phoenix typically depend on the specialty of the beans, the complexity of the drink, and the location of the shop. For business owners, costs involve lease agreements, equipment procurement, and staffing, which can range from modest startup costs to significant investments in high-end machinery.

What are the benefits of visiting a coffee shop?

Coffee shops provide a communal space that offers both social interaction and a productive environment for individuals. They are popular destinations for people seeking a change of scenery to work or meet friends while enjoying a curated beverage menu. Many patrons also value the atmosphere, which can range from high-energy environments to quiet, cozy corners suitable for focus.
