Internal Revenue Service (IRS) Taxpayer Assistance Center

The evening customer service representatives apparently aren't monitored by quality assurance supervisors. They are releasing calls in the evening hours. They answer but are silent and don't acknowledge the call at all then release the call. I have sat on the phone for over 90mins, only for my call to be answered then it's disconnected. I'm currently holding for the 4th time! Poor customer service and it's not even officially tax season. Imagine what happens during an active tax season! This will be addressed further other than a poor review!

Not sure what the point of this is. They literally never answer the phone during work hours, you get a machine. You can never reach a person and they do not follow up with you. What's the difference between this and the IRS?

The IRS has a terrible system for helping tax payers. Idk how many times the automated system has hung up on me, or impossible to get a live agent. The whole department is awful. Even trying to get an in-person appointment is tough, but you have to hope the phones don’t hang up on you.

Why does it take 2 hours plus to get into contact with the general IRS line saying "there is a high call volume". To give a simple information shouldn’t take customers several hours before we can reach you guys; that is being unprofessional and you guys get paid to do exactly that (customer service). How is this even possible? Please make it make sense!

Muy pesimo servicio al cliente, te hacen esperar 5 horas y luego cortan la llamada.There is no agency in the United States Government more incompetent and unhelpful as that of the IRS. No one answers their phones and the recording repeatedly says to call back later, it's virtually impossible to contact someone to get help.

What a terrible automated system. At the point I am calling in, I don't want to hear that you can't help me until after February when its flippin April. Useless system. This is why people hate paying taxes. If you spent more money with the IRS instead at war maybe america would be better off.

Can’t come in without an appointment and can’t make an appointment because the when you call, even after youve been on hold for HOURS it drops the call because the "Volume is too high". I’ve been trying for weeks. Infuriating. In addition, the managers reading disputes fail to read paperwork properly and thoroughly.
