Mrs V and I enjoyed a long awaited night out with our close friends and neighbors at The Stockyards Steakhouse billed as Arizona’s OG steakhouse established in 1947 and located in Central Phoenix just east of downtown. We were greeted and seated immediately by their friendly staff. When I made our reservation I inquired about the layout and seating. The hostess mentioned that she would do her best to accommodate our party of four to an isolated booth where John Wayne and Barry Goldwater were known to frequent back in the day, and she delivered. The moment you walk into the restaurant, you notice the meticulously appointed historic retro rancher inspired vibe. Our server Kent was professional attentive with a very friendly demeanor. Their entire service team was excellent. For starters we ordered salt & pepper fried calamari and crab cake appetizers which were amazing. Rave reviews for the 8 oz Tenderfoot Prime Rib, 14 oz Ribeye and my 14 oz NY Strip Steak was cooked to a perfect medium rare temperature with a nice sear. Everyone enjoyed their salads and sides. The food was absolutely delicious! A major shoutout to my landscape contractor for the referral to this iconic steakhouse! Highly recommended!! Mark Voykin
My friend and I had the pleasure of dining here during our trip to Phoenix. It was a vintage steakhouse. The decor was very tasteful and represented the history of the stockyard. I loved the picture and the waitress also provided some info on the restaurant as well as the mural and the bar, which came from France. We didn’t have reservations, but the wait wasn’t long. The food was really good. My only negative was the bread/cornbread, it was dry. Otherwise, the dinner was great! The Caesar salad and dressing was really delicious. My steak was cooked just as I requested. The ambience was really cool; it reminded me of Frank Sinatra and the Rat Pack! If I every visit Phoenix again, I’ll make sure to stop by!
It was my birthday and I really wanted a good steak so we tried this place for the first time. It was okay. The bread rolls that were brought to the table were HARD like hockey pucks. The second batch were soft hot and yummy. I ordered a ribeye and it tasted funny and was not as tender as I thought it would be. Husband ordered a prime rib and he said it was good. He loved the horseradish haha. When they heard it was my birthday, they gave me a free dessert and that made my whole birthday! THANK YOU SO MUCH!
Came here for a birthday celebration. You can tell this place has been around for quite a while, but the furniture simply shows its age. Everything was clean and well maintained. The salmon was excellent, and I especially loved the crust on top. The ribeye was incredibly tender, one of the best I’ve had. The mashed potatoes were smooth, creamy, and rich. I wanted to try their A4 ribeye, but it looks like it’s only available during dinner hours:( I’ll definitely be coming back. Also, the complimentary birthday dessert was delicious!
First timer here and was recommended by the hotel. Very classy front lobby the decor is very classy. I had the prime Rib and it was superb 👌. The best meal is the pecan pie with ice-cream. You must get this dessert. The best pecan pie in the western hemisphere. The staff were very friendly and professional. We like it a lot.
