Took my family and we enjoyed ourselves. My 6 kids are ages 1 to 12 and they only charge $1 per child age. Adults $15.15. All of our buffet purchase cost also included drinks for us. Food was decent, and fresh. Would come back again.

I was put onto May Garden by a coworker who has been coming here for nearly 20 years. He swore by it and I must say he, and it, did not disappoint. I’ve only been twice (so far), right when they open. Both times were exceptional. The food was fresh and ready for the picking. I love that the selection has variety but is limited (compared to other buffets). I tried a little bit of everything and all of it was delicious. My favorites were the Pork fried rice, chow mein, chop suey, sesame chicken and beef and broccoli. The sesame chicken is literally BOMB. It had the perfect crunch and the right amount of sauce to complement it. The only critique I can give is that the Egg Drop soup was a little salty for my preference and the vegetables in the Beef & Brocolli were a little too "soggy" (not in a bad way, I just prefer a little crunch with brocolli and carrots). Overall, May Garden is a gem in Phoenix and will leave you and your wallet satisfied after a visit.

Takeout is the way to go. The portions are huge, and the quality is good. This isn’t high-end dining, but it’s solid food for the working class

Once upon a time long, long ago this was a great place to dine in or take-away. Service was great, food was desirable and take-away was the same with some basic restrictions applied. Growing up, my family dined here a few times a month. As I grew older, my appetite and likes changed but the food had not. Well, not like it has now. The old man is rude, the food provided for take-away and the portions are worse than getting a frozen meal from Pei Way and I don't like that place. I thought I would try again on 8/31. Prior to that, it has been close to 6 months as that experience was bad. The "onion rings" and "fried zucchini" are less than that of a frozen grocery store option. The zucchini is mush in the 'fried zucchini" and there is doubtfully one ring of an onion in the "onion rings". The batter to vegetable content is easily 9 to 1. I opted for the "broccoli and beef" ( a few pieces of very thinly sliced beef with carrots and a large amount of overcooked broccoli. It was wilted and had no texture. The carrots were still crisp which was welcoming. I also asked for the "lo mien" which is subpar. The noodles are not overcooked but it lacks flavor and any additional things. Very few onions and a few shreds of carrot were all I received. Unsure of the flavor though you can taste the fish sauce and see the oil. To that, I added the "orange chicken". How can I further say "worse than Pei Way". No flavor, over sauced and bland as bland can be. The final piece is the ONE lonely egg roll that I received. The egg rolls are okay and usually over fried. The fact that I received only one is typically but again, I went in with hopes of a small change if anything. There was no sauce for the egg roll, 4 packets of cheap soy sauce which always goes in the trash, 1 fortune cookie that followed the soy sauce and a very useless fork. The one take away from this is that they at least provide worthy napkins which is far more than I can say for most restaurants. Take away is a $1 less than dine in where you can have all things including a drink, soup, salad, jello and so on. You will pay extra for fried wonton strips or anything else that is included in the dine-in buffet. For myself, I am unlike those that eat a large amount of food in one sitting ( you can observe the size of many). Dine in is not for me. I get more meals from the take-away though I will not return after 40+ years of eating there on and off. Cut backs and greed is doing places like this in. They tried to expand and failed. Now what used to be a big go to place is also failing. I have run into many while waiting for my order who have experienced the same thing. It is sad though when it closes, I won't feel the same as I did with Blakes Lot-o-Burger, Bob's Big Boy, Big Apple, Chen n Wok and so many other places many of use grew up with.
