We just had our first experience at BRBG, and it was exceptional. As first timers including two adults and two kids (ages 13 and 9), we found the facilities super clean with extremely warm and helpful staff. It was a welcoming atmosphere with challenges for all levels including us as beginners (as well as some really hard ones for more experienced climbers). The experience was both exhausting and exhilarating, and we look forward to coming back again! Highly recommended BRBG for all levels.

I'm a beginner at indoor bouldering and wanted to try this gym. Was welcomed kindly by staff Greg and Gale. They helped introduce me the rules and the happenings going on in the gym. The walls range from different difficulties and are very challenging which does make you brain storm problem solving. The challenges are enticing and make you want to continue to try each problem. I was able to start V0-V1 but could not handle myself on anything higher. They have a large gym with two sides, and including a gym with free weights and weights, several machines, nothing too fancy. That can be used included with a day pass. Manageable, usable, and functional. Which I loved. They have events and seem to be a very kind and welcoming community. Best to come with friends, and at not so busy times before 4pm on weekdays.

Had a fantastic experience at Black Rock Bouldering Gym! The staff was incredibly helpful. They took the time to break down all the rules and details about the facility, making sure I felt comfortable. I left feeling encouraged to come back, as other guests were really supportive, making it a great environment for my friend and I.

I’ve been coming here since March, and it’s really begun to feel like a second home. The people are so welcoming and amazing, and the staff is so supportive. The routes are incredible and, at times, super creative. It’s not until months later that I realize they mix up styles to give people chances to develop skills and techniques. I started by not even being able to do most of the V1 routes, and I finally progressed to V3 last month. I realized a big reason is that each V2 and each V1 was a lesson in technique, and even with their V1s, there was so much diversity that after a few months, I gained the skills to progress to V2 and now V3.

I've been coming here for years and have never once had a negative experience. Pricing is very reasonable, especially if you get in on annual membership discounts. Staff is friendly. Community is great. Bright, welcoming, and clean all around. Events such as the two annual comps are extremely fun and well managed. Setting is diverse in style and very high quality. I'm very impressed with the effort that goes into making even low grades interesting, which is something that many gyms don't bother to do. Intermediate and advanced grades range wildly in style, rather than all gravitate toward being difficult in the exact same way. You'll find some problems that mimic more traditional outdoor bouldering, others in the style of modern comp problems with big coordination moves, really tricky slabs, and everything in between. I love that they dedicate space to comp-style problems. Also huge shoutout to the lead setters for making sure to never overlap similar colors or crowd too many problems in one spot. I'll give a shout-out to the coaches while I'm at it. All the team kids are super well behaved and respectful, and I know that that is in big part due to the attentive coaching. Regarding some of the negative reviews I've seen...I do agree that the pads are a little on the firm side, but not to a degree that would ever concern me. Someone mentioned not enough slab, and while maybe some sets don't emphasize it, I'd say that lately there is always an intentional effort to have a handful of slab problems. Especially with the dedicated spotlight slab problems they've been setting this year. 5/5 Nothing has ever made me question my membership.
