The Kettle Black Kitchen & Pub

Stopped in here for lunch on a weekday with a coworker… There were 2 servers working the dining room and service was very slow… seemed like it took forever for us to be greeted and then each step of the way it took a long time for food, etc. The items we ordered were really good though. Their pretzel is soft and tasty. Their chicken club sandwich was great and the cole slaw that came with it was nice too. The venue resembles a dive, all the way to the restrooms. Overall, it was ok… not that special.

Downtown Phoenix! Their kitchen stays open until around 10:30 pm, and the menu goes beyond basic pub fare. I love starting with the Bavarian pretzel or mussels, followed by hearty dishes like pork belly sliders, fish & chips, or loaded fries. The food always arrives fresh, well-seasoned, and full of flavor. Service is friendly and relaxed, with knowledgeable staff who make the experience smooth and enjoyable. The atmosphere is cozy but lively, warm wood tones, comfy booths, and a bar that feels welcoming. Whether you're craving solid comfort food or a late bite with good company, this place hits every mark. Highly recommend!

Impressively horrible! Our meal here was inedible. We ordered the ahi tuna salad and chicken wings, and both were shockingly bad. The tuna had zero fish flavor—dry, tasteless, and so old I wondered if it was fake vegan "fish." The chicken wings were just as bad. How do you mess up wings? These were dry, tough, and barely edible—I usually eat every part (skin, meat, even soft bones), but I couldn’t even take proper bites. The worst part? The staff clearly knew the food was bad. Our server never asked how our meal was, and when I tried to speak to someone, the bar guy literally ran away after saying he wasn’t a manager. No offer to help, no manager check-in—just avoidance. We were starving and forced ourselves to eat some of it, but we left feeling ripped off. I never send food back, but this was a scam. Do not waste your money.

Highly recommend. It wasn’t too busy during a weeknight so service was good. The fish & chips were probably the best I’ve ever had but the pretzel (with cheese & homemade mustard) is my top recommendation here.

Went here for dessert and drinks. Its a timy little pub. The service was good. The drinks were good. The dessert was great. The atmosphere was just a little off the night we went cant put our finger on it. The people were weird the lady next to us kept putting her legs up on the bench and scratching herself next to us it was just eewww. Lol im sure other times it has to be a lot better!

We ate here some four years ago and remembered the food was great. Well I am glad to report nothing has changed! The food is delicious and the service was spot on! We were greater at our table and given water right away. Our order was taken and brought out to our table in short period of time and was well worth the short wait. This Kettle Black Kitchen & Pub is a must when in downtown Phoenix.

My friends and I ate here on the first night of our visit and the service and the food were both so phenomenal we made a point to go back a second time before the end of our trip. We told our waiter we were doing a round of shots for an "Irish goodbye" for a friend back home who had passed earlier that day and they gave us the last shot on the house. <3 Amazing food and drinks and even more outstanding service. I will recommend this place to everyone traveling to Phoenix.
