Great find! Lots of options, for everyone. Really helpful staff, and a bar to hangout and study, relax, chill with friends, etc. lots of gift options, from wind chimes to candles, socks to gems, tarot cards to games. Fun to just walk around and see the diversity of books and people. Worth stopping in!

Great bookstore. I actually like their other location even more—despite being smaller, it feels like they have a wider selection of games and puzzles, plus the area offers a bit more to do. What really stands out is how much they give you for used books. Getting over 40% of the retail value for something you no longer want is hard to beat.

I love a great bookstore! This was a very enjoyable bookstore to peruse the shelves of. I also love the little gift items for sale. I highly recommending checking out this bookstore!

Always curious to check out a small business. The selection and atmosphere however – very politically charged. Not really a big variety of books either like the mystery, history, science sections and anything for school is lacking. I just want to enjoy books and not focus on what’s going on in the world from time to time- it’s good for very liberal folks though. The selection is small. They do offer trade ins- though I have not done that with this business. Did not check out the coffee area but that’s a great combo to have for a book store. They serve alcohol but this place is super expensive – like $13 a beer. They also offer theme nights/nights out. The prices are steep (like Walmart/target/amazon are cheaper) but you can expect that from a small place. Lots of little knick knacks around the place- good gift giving potential but really pulls away from it being a book store about books…. Workers were average but felt like they were trying to rush everyone around/out. Very “buy something quickly or get out”. It’s not just a used book store- I’d say it’s 75% +new. Realistically it’s 3 stars but the 4th is just because we didn’t try any of the extras so I can’t judge/account for that.

Great bookstore with incredible ambience. Worth paying a little more over Amazon to support local place that also serves wine, beer and coffee. Cozy spot.

Will not return because of small used book and nonfiction selection.
Changing Hands Phoenix is a cute independent bookstore. The largest sections were sci-fi, fantasy, young adult and kids. Not my thing, but probably good for teens and kids. Might be fun to stop by and browse on a date or something. There’s also lots of trinkets and things for sale, and the bar takes up a lot of the store.
I was disappointed to see how small the history section was, and they didn’t have much variety. I have a running list of things I look for and they didn’t have any of them.
Also, the used books are interspersed with new books so you can only tell because of a little sticker. It seemed that most books were new and therefore pretty pricey. Some of the “new” books had slight defects but were still priced as new. I’ve found cheaper copies of some of the used books elsewhere.
I really wanted to like it, but it seems to be more of a hangout/gift shop than serious used bookstore.

I loved this place! They have a great selection of books and the place is well organized. The bar is very clean as well. They had a lot of different craft beers to choose from as well from IPA to Lager over a dozen on tap. I ordered a white mocha and a brownie and they were very tasty! I will definitely bring my kids they will enjoy this place. 5 stars all the way.

I absolutely LOVE The Book Drop! I love how each book is curated and not just part of some algorithm trying to get me to buy the next book in someone else’s agenda. I’ve been a subscriber for over 2 years and still, every month, I can’t wait to open that sweet package to find out what my next favorite read will be! I have recommended The Book Drop to so may people. And I’ll keep recommending it!!

I visited the website and followed the prompts, sent pictures of my textbooks. Waited a month. Redoing the process now, not really expecting a response. My books are bona fide as well, so I’m not sure what the problem is.
[Edit] they found me and responded.

I’ve sold my textbooks before through different services, but none were as efficient or offered as positive an experience as BookDrop. These guys were responsive in their communication and got back to me quickly. They answered all my questions, were super friendly, and offered great (and realistic) prices for my textbooks. And I got my payment way quicker than I expected. Overall, the best textbook-selling experience I’ve ever had!

AMAZING service! I’ve had my old textbooks from two semesters just sitting around and it was a huge relief to get rid of them and get paid for it! Totally beats waiting in a huge line to return them. It was super easy and convenient and fast, I got my payment after just a day or two! The staff was really kind and helpful in getting me the info I needed. There was some mix up with my payment but they fixed it quick! Definitely will be using this service again!

Such an easy and quick process! Sent pictures of my books and got the quote back quickly. I was able to drop off my books that night and was paid within the next couple of days! Such a great setup and deal for students! Will certainly use them again in the future.

Great experience! They communicated with me quickly and gave clear instructions so that I knew exactly what I had to do to make the process go smoothly. The person I texted and the website were very helpful with questions I had. While they weren’t able to buy as many textbooks of mine as I had hoped, they still took care of all of them so I didn’t have to keep storing them at my house or throw them away in the trash. I was paid super quick too which was great. This was a great way to get rid of old textbooks and make a little extra cash. This company was pretty reliable and helpful for me

Such an incredibly easy and convenient service. I texted for the extra $5, submitted the book covers and barcodes, and got a quote in less than 24 hours. Was able to drop off on a Tuesday night and received my money in venmo on Friday afternoon! So helpful to no lug around pounds of books I am done with! Service was super swift, kind, and responsive. Definitely recommend!

Delightful, community-focused bookstore featuring work by Latinx, POC, LGBTQX, and other world writers. I’ve happily discovered writers I didn’t know there. A large selection of Spanish language books, gifts, a coffee bar, and more. I support this store as much as possible. ¡Que Viva Palabras Bookstore!

OMG, this place was such a wonderful find and we happened to stumble upon it. Everything about it was great!! The book selection was very satisfying, the art work is beautiful, the energy of the store is peaceful, there are nice seating areas and snacks for purchase. I love the importance of community and how it’s reflected as well. The owners are very personable and you can see their passion reflected throughout the space. A Must Visit!! I wanted to purchase so many more books but I was traveling and my luggage was already a bit tight. Will definitely visit again in the future.

Really unique book store with a great mission that is seen all throughout the selection of books they have. I admire their commitment to highlighting BIPOC authors and maintaining a selection of books for Spanish speaking people.
The only critique I can have about the store is that both times I’ve visited the bookstore, I didn’t really feel welcomed by the staff. They’re not the most outgoing people there, which threw me off for a shop that is focused on collective empowerment and community. They usually hid away in the back areas, which made it hard for me to go find an employee to get my purchases. It kinda felt like I was a nuisance being there. I thought it was just a one-off the first time, but the second time made it feel like it’s gonna be constant every time I go.
That’s just a little nitpick. Other than that, I overall like the vibes of the store and what they offer. It’s a bookstore like no other that I’ve been able to find in the PHX area and it should be supported.

This place had good books, but my boyfriend was trying to sell some old books from like the 1900s he has to complete set plus some albums and we know for sure the books could go for at least 500 they wanted to give him 7.50 for everything! What a joke and for that they get 1 star if they would of offered 7.50 for one of the vinyl records then ya I would of rated higher just cause I loved their books but 7.50 for everything ya No

. The staff is very knowledgeable and courteous. It is a pet friendly business provided your pet is leashed. I have to admit though that the staff knows my cat’s name better than they know mine. They gush when Bilbo makes his entrance and he finds a convenient shelf to park himself in front of while watching shoppers Meander around him. They have an excellent selection of books including many older volumes. They hold true to their name Half Price Books as all paperbacks are at least half price off.

I happened upon Half Price Books by accident and I am very happy for finding it. This is a fantastic book store with so much to offer besides books *ie; the obvious new & used books, vinyl records, movies, jigsaw puzzles, sketch books, calendar, gifts and so much more. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable and extremely helpful. They always have great deals via e-mails & you can shop in person 7 days a week or online at your convenience. One of the best bookstores in the Valley.

I don’t know why anyone would buy books elsewhere. Their Clearance section is my go to for just about any down time. You can leave with 20 books and spend less than $50.00. Great way to find new reads. If hunting for a familiar title, they are happy to try to find it in store. If not in store, they are quick to offer multiple ways of obtaining said book- they really want to put literature in your hands. Great book store. Thanks for keeping reading alive and offering such a stellar used collection.

Cute cozy library. The first floor had the restrooms and children’s section. Upstairs is where the computers, printers are. There’s also a side for private rooms so you can study. I like coming here but parking is limited.

It is Saturday at 845pm hours. Thought I would take advantage of the extended hours.I went upstairs to organize a notebook for a work training. Needed a 3-hole punch. They didn’t have one only a single hole punch. I decided to ask downstairs at the front desk this older lady with short white hair asked me if she could help me I asked her the same question she asked what I needed a 3-hole punch for I told her and showed her my binder. She looked at me and said Yes I have one but I can’t let you use it. Poor Customer Service. I simply said why did you ask me what I needed it if you were not going to let me use it. RUDE. Ill stick with the regular staff during the day.

Free public good in my neighborhood. Extended summer hours for cooling and enriching the community. Seeds, computer and WiFi access, put any book on hold for pickup here, Kanopy / Libby / Hoopla electronic resources for movies, music, e-books, free free free! I do wish the parking was improved. Now that the old Metrocenter is demolished I wish the temporary overflow lot was made safer and easier to access.

Love this Library my kids love coming here we have been coming here for years last time I went to drop off our books to get new ones I checked out my account was restricted and I had a $35 charge the supervisor had to help me because there other guy was a new person which was actually very polite he was awesome but the lady the supervisor skinny with glasses was extremely rude her tone of voice is extremely rude and repeated herself over and over she would talk over me as I tried to politely explain myself I was raised to handle things politely in a calmly manner I was at no time rude to her you can even ask the new guy in the front desk she was so so rude even my 11 year old daughter has more manners then her and said mom why was she so rude she ended up taking the charge off my account the top little outer corner of the book had like dirt or something probably like the first 5-6 pages I explained how people grab the books all day how can they possibly know whatever was on that book was me she kept repeating I was the only one who has checked it out very loud loud enough for anyone up front to hear the conversation and I’m not even exaggerating when I’m telling you absolutely nothing was wrong with the book the dirt was on the little outer corner and they were trying to charge me $35 dollars it was so embarrassing the way she talked to me I’m a adult talk to me as who I am just because she’s white doesn’t mean she can talk down to us Mexicans she has a attitude problem and needs to work on her customer service skills I’m not sure who in there right mind made HER a supervisor but I’m extremely disappointed in my last experience and hope someone at least takes the time to sit down with her and have a talk to her about how she treated us I’ll be more then glad to drive down their and hear a apology it’s been a week and it’s something that stuck to me I wasn’t going to say anything but I couldn’t just leave it alone hope she gets some sort of talk I really do !!!!!

It pains me to write this, as I love the Yucca library and almost all of its staff, but one staff member in particular has made the library significantly less pleasant of late. There is a security guard there, an older African American gentleman, who is extremely unpleasant. (I only include his race that he may be identified should the library wish to address my concerns.) I frequently use the computers and wifi at Yucca, so I’m in there for extended periods, and thus I have observed his behavior across a significant span of time.
He is always watching videos on his phone, and does not acknowledge me when I say hi. This is especially strange considering that the other guards I’ve encountered are the first to greet ME when I come in the door. Why else have someone stationed at the door in the first place? I’ve asked him questions about the library and library services on multiple occasions, which he has never known the answer too. He also never provided the basic customer service of helping me find someone who DID have the answer. Recently I was walking into the library and he was outside speaking loudly on his phone using fairly vulgar language while children were nearby, which was the last straw that convinced me to write this review.
The one time I needed his help on a security related matter, he appeared annoyed that I was interrupting his video time and snapped at me when I wasn’t explaining the situation fast enough for his liking. I’ve witnessed him snap at other women, while being respectful towards men, often enough to detect a familiar pattern that has no business in public service.
I love supporting the library with my tax dollars, but I hate that some of them are going to this layabout. He needs serious retraining or Yucca needs a new guard that actually does his job, knows the library, and treats women with equity and decency.

Come here quite frequently but the staff is quite awful. The library itself is peaceful and the heat relief program is great for those in need of cool air. I recently came in a few days ago with my therapy dog (with permission granted) and we weren’t bothering anyone. He is well trained and doesn’t bother people unless feeling scared or threatened. Well when a worker came by and (without permission) attempted to touch my dog, he barked. He was only startled and made no attempt to bite or lunge towards her. Security (an old white dude) came by and said he wasn’t allowed inside anymore. Instead of owning up to actions of their employees they said my dog was no longer allowed inside and had to stay oit in the heat. They need new security and better trained librarian. Common decency is not to startle someone’s dog, and to ask permission before trying to pet them. If the lady approached correctly nothing would’ve happened. My dog loves kids and all sorts of attention. Crappy security in general. This isn’t the first negative experience with this security guard either. He often sits around or patrols outside, hardly ever walks around. Every once in a while I’ve noticed he tends to patrol the teen area a lot more when teens of color are in there. I’ve come to notice he doesn’t do the same when white teens are in there. I’m not a parent of teens personally but I would hate to know my child was being watched more carefully because they were of color.

This library is truly outstanding!
The staff is not only incredibly generous and kind but also exceptionally helpful. I’ve had the pleasure of interacting with five different female staff members, and every single one of them was exemplary. I only wish I had noted their names to give them the recognition they deserve. Their dedication and warmth make this library a wonderful place to visit. Highly recommend!

This new Barnes and Noble location is great! It’s clearly got the updated “airport” aesthetic, which is a bit of a bummer, but for this store I think the style fits. It’s a two-story location with a cafe on top, and everything feels very clean and high-end. Time will tell how well this store location keeps up with demand, but for now it’s a great place to shop! Tons of inventory and cool selections, and a great layout with plenty of room to walk and browse, and seating to get work done.

The new Barnes & Noble store is a fantastic addition to the Camelback corridor. It’s HUGE! Two full floors full of books, games, stationary, vinyl, and more. There’s even a cafe on the second floor. Marli was an awesome employee who was very friendly and showed us to where we were looking for some books. She even got excited when it was a series that she’d read. The store, staff, and design of the space were all top notch. We will be coming back often.

Ok cute! This is what our neighborhood needed. Great lay out and the cafe upstairs serves coffee/ pastries lots of sitting space. Conveniently located to Trader Joe’s/ wholefoods. Willing to spend a little extra $ on a book if that means supporting my local B&N vs Amazon

The new Barnes & Noble at Town and Country in Phoenix is awesome! It’s a book lover’s paradise with endless shelves and super friendly staff. The coffee shop on the second floor is such a cozy spot, great coffee and seriously tasty cookies. Bookstores like this are so special, and we’ve got to keep them alive. Thrilled this one’s here!

This is going to be my favorite B & N location! I love the setup. The staff are pleasant. Their displays and offerings are consistent with the B & N brand. The store layout is perfect for browsing and reading. There are gifts, toys, stationary strategically placed throughout.
There is a nice café as well.
Be prepare to park at a distance because the store is located in a popular retail center. Accessible parking and entrance.

This is a nice small quiet library close to McDonalds, if you’re hungry after reading. I really enjoy coming here to this location. Today they had their homeless ID project going on from 1-3 pm. They also help individuals who need their birth certificate. It is held every 2nd & 4th Thursday of each month. There were quite a few people here. The library staff are all so kind and wonderful. They are always willing to help. I signed up for their Summer Reading Program for adults and I went in today to log my reading hours as of June 1st. So far I have over 2,000 plus minutes of reading. I Love to read. I received a Raising Cane’s coupon for a free frozen lemonade, 2 PHX Mercury tickets, an adult pass to one of the state parks and a Kool looking little bag. Those are just a few of the prizes. Their Summer Reading Program started June 1st and ends August 1st. If you want to get out of sight & mind, come to this library, open a book and read away. They also have computers you can use. Great Job to the library staff!

Love taking my toddler to this library. This location is the closest to us and I am grateful for all the children activities and books they have available. If you are hoping to have some quiet time at the library, please consider that it is a small kid-friendly location and there can be many children present at a time, especially while families are waiting for story time to begin.

Love this neighborhood library. I’ve been getting children’s books for my nephew here for two years and haven’t run out of fresh material yet. Cute toys and crafts for the littles too! I like to use the app and get books from the downtown library shipped over too, saves me a trip to Burton Barr. 10/10 for the services, space, and folks!

Stopped in to print out court paperwork and they were very helpful in showing me how to print from my phone without getting on the computer. The printer was not able to make change but they were able to print my documents for free. Thankfully.

The library felt a bit unsafe to me. The positive side is that it stays open until 10 PM on weekends, and I would recommend using the study rooms as a safer option. The staff are nice and helpful

**Fantastic Library with Amazing Staff**
I absolutely love coming to this library! The staff here are incredibly kind, respectful, and always ready to help with any questions or needs. Whether you need assistance or just have a quick question , they go out of their way to provide support. I regularly come here to print out my college assignments, and while there’s a cash requirement for printing (quarters, nickels, and dimes only), it’s 100% worth it. The environment is always calm and welcoming, making it a great place to focus and get things done. A big thank you to everyone working here for creating such a positive and helpful space!

Trying to connect my laptop device to their wi-fi is impossible, the connection is just so weak I can’t even find it in my menu. So I shoveled money for an entire Ethernet cord + an adapter to update my software, only to find out their Ethernet ports don’t work unless a WORK ORDER is put in?! To use a public Ethernet port?! So it’s Wifi only. Please put up signage letting people know this. That was devastating to find out on my own.

I was just thinking about the security guard that works on Friday and Saturday at Harmon library. Every time I go there he gives me a hard time. I think it’s because I am a black man with dreads. On Friday we were waiting for a party in the park to celebrate my mother’s birthday party. Had a permit for alcohol and I was waiting to set up in the park her party. He walked out and said I was not allowed in the library for 6 months and we were getting ready to set up a party for my mother’s birthday. And we had a city permit to have alcohol. Not sure what his problem is but he let’s people in that smoke drugs, but I not allowed because of my mother day party, when we were about to set up because I had a beer in my had. Racist and racial profile to the maxs. I going to city hold and put out a complaint on how he treats people of color I served this country in the military and am a veteran, but I never been treated this way in a public place but Harmon library

Should be limited devices being charging at same time by one person. I was trying to charge my phone but one black guy has 6 devices charging at same time. Leaving now outlets for others. And another person was charging 3 devices and another 2 devices same time. Leaving the rest with no plug-ins to charge our phone maybe 2 per person maximum devices.

They charge for printing, which is fine I guess if you’re not a homeless person with no money, but they only accept cash, namely coins. Who carries cash anymore, let alone coins?! Stupid. Other branches of Phoenix libraries accept cards, but not this one. So annoying and could really pose a barrier to those who don’t have any money but need to print important things. I’m lucky I can just go elsewhere and pay to print things, but I feel awful for others less privileged.
