Jared was an amazing tour guide for the Murders and Mysteries tour. Perfect way to start my trip to Phoenix. He did his best to keep us cool in the heat but did not skimp on the information. Even when 2 people in our group had to drop out, at the beginning of the tour, and left us with less than the required tour amount, he continued on with the tour! Highly recommend this experience!

My friend and I were booked on 2 tours, the Haunted Pub Crawl and the Murder and Mysteries tour. Both were very interesting and fun! Jared is a great presenter and very knowledgeable historian. We had a blast! Some of the histories I knew about, like the San Carlos Hotel and the Orpheum Theater. The rest of the history was enlightening and fascinating. If you are a history buff and want to learn about the Phoenix history, this is an awesome tour.

The tour guide was fun and knew his history of Arizona all the way back prior to 1800s and native to the area. We absolutely loved it! The tour bus even had a bathroom on board and you can bring cooler of drinks and snacks! Will definitely be attending more tours from this company! Already wanting to book for haunted pub crawl and Christmas lights tours!

Bailey’s ghost tour is a must for anyone looking to explore Phoenix’s haunted history in a fun and unique way. We visited three historic bars, each with its own eerie tale. Bailey’s storytelling was engaging and full of energy, blending spooky legends with local history. At each stop, we had the chance to enjoy a drink & hear ghostly stories! Whether you’re a skeptic or a believer, Bailey made it an unforgettable experience. Highly recommended for anyone who loves a good ghost story with a side of drinks!

Wonderful tour of three haunted pubs. Our tour guide provided a great narrative. The bus was very comfortable and the tour ran like clockwork. We had plenty of time to absorb the local flavor and enjoy a drink at each stop along the way. We spent a good three hours on the tour and found it well worth the price and our time.

My wife and I took a private tour with Jarrod, and we’re blown away by how passionate he is about offering the best service possible. He is incredibly knowledgeable, funny, and an all-around good dude. We will definitely be coming back to take another one of his tours and highly recommend you book with him if you want to experience the darker side of Phoenix.

Especially in the hot month of July, if you’re thinking about visiting, just remember to take it easy when you’re outside. It’s a great spot for families any time of the year, but don’t forget to bring a water bottle to stay hydrated!
The garden has tons of cacti, succulents, and other plants that might surprise you. The staff is super friendly and ready to help, and you’ll find signs along the paths to keep you on track. You’ll even get a map when you walk in! Even though it can get really hot, drinking plenty of water lets you enjoy everything the Desert Botanical Garden has to offer.
You can wander through different trails and check out the beautiful desert plants. Each area has its vibe, and there are cool exhibits that teach you about the local environment and why it’s important to take care of it.
During the summer, there are often fun events like guided tours and educational activities to help you learn more about the desert. Plus, visiting in the evening is nice because it cools down and the garden looks magical with all the lights.
Don’t forget to check out the gift shop for some local art, books, or even a little plant to take home. There’s also a spot to grab some snacks and drinks.
Overall, visiting the Desert Botanical Garden in July is doable if you plan ahead. With some water, sunblock and a relaxed attitude, it’s a fun day out for families, nature lovers, or anyone wanting to check out the desert’s beauty!

I love visiting botanical gardens, not just for their visual beauty, but also because they are generally quiet, peaceful, and a great way to lower your stress. Most botanical gardens feature lush greenery, beautiful flowers, and the like, but one exception is the Desert Botanical Garden, in Phoenix.
Desert plants are not generally associated with visual appeal, but a visit to the Desert Botanical Garden could easily make you reconsider this commonly held viewpoint. This large garden is home to tens of thousands of desert plants- not just the usual cacti, but others, too. The color you will see the most is light/olive green, but there are some desert flowers in the mix, too, for those who expect a little more color when they visit a botanical garden.
Desert Botanical Garden has multiple paths, all of them short, and it can be completely walked in a relatively short time. One thing I really like about this botanical garden is the abundance of signs. No matter where you are, you never get the feeling of being lost- there is always a sign, showing you the way. Another thing I appreciate is the water bottle filling stations. When you’re walking around in the desert, you will get thirsty and staying hydrated is a must, especially in the summer months. There are no worries here- the water is plentiful.
Your visit to Desert Botanical Garden shouldn’t take more than about two hours at the most, but you will greatly enjoy what you see. I wasn’t so sure about this attraction, but it won me over quickly and I learned more about desert plants than I ever expected. Be sure to arrive with plenty of sunblock on your skin, and a water bottle in hand. And be sure to visit the gift shop before you go. It’s a top attraction in the Phoenix area, and one that I recommend.

The Desert Botanical Garden is a great place to visit. I work at the Phoenix Zoo so its very conveniently located to my work. The staff at the Botanical Garden are very welcoming and knowledgeable. The wide variety of plants is incredible and the amount of share throughout the grounds kept me comfortable during my summer visit. There are plenty of water fountains and the restrooms are clean. The signage/graphics provide a lot of educational information. I visited for about 2 hours but will be returning as the weather gets a little cooler.

Desert Botanical Garden is a solid five star spot and one of the best places to get outside without hiking up a mountain or melting into the sidewalk. If you want to see what Arizona has to offer besides rocks and regret, this is the move. Cactus, flowers, trees that look like they belong on another planet, it is all here and looking majestic.
It is a great place to just walk around for the day, take it slow, enjoy the scenery, and get your steps in while pretending you are doing something educational. The butterfly exhibit was a nice bonus and the staff running it was awesome. Super friendly, answered questions, and made it more fun than I expected.
It is not very expensive either, which is rare for something this cool. You can spend an hour or three here and still feel like you got your money’s worth. Bring water, wear a hat, and act like you know what kind of cactus you are looking at. Solid day out, highly recommend.

Go early as it gets hot but they do have plenty of shade and water refill stations so bring a water bottle that can be easily refilled. Beautiful grounds and easily can be accessed. Each garden area is 1/10 to 1/3 mile path with about a total of 2 miles max to see all of the areas.

Highly recommend this botanical garden. The variety of cactus is one of the highlights and you can also get to see local unique birds! There are boards explaining the facts and stories you would want to know about the cactus, wonderful learning experience! The garden is very well maintained and bathrooms are clean.

If you’re lookin’ for a real-deal Arizona souvenir shop that won’t break the bank, Eyeconic Arizona Souvenirs in Phoenix is about as good as it gets. It’s got all the charm you’d want in a local shop—cute setup, friendly folks, and shelves packed with everything from cactus-themed trinkets to high-quality gifts that actually feel like they belong in Arizona, not just some generic tourist stop.
What really sets this place apart is the price. You walk into most souvenir shops and feel like you’re gettin’ fleeced, but here? You can grab a handful of gifts and still leave with money in your pocket. It’s refreshing, to say the least.
Now, if there’s any knock against it, it’s the size. It’s a little tight inside, and if more than a few folks show up at once, you’re gonna feel it. Parking can be a bit of a hassle, too, especially if you’re not lucky enough to grab a close spot.
That said, for what it is—affordable, well-stocked, and full of character—it’s a solid four-star spot. If you’re in Phoenix and want something better than airport-priced junk, this is worth a stop.

It is the best museum I ever seen! I am not a fan of music, but I am deeply touched by all kinds of music and instruments from all over the world, hundreds of countries and hundreds cultures. Staff in this museum are super nice, they are ready to answer your questions and provide useful information you need. This museum is not only good for adults, but also great place for kids! If you want your kid to learn instruments, bring kids to this museum and kids will start to fall in love with music. I will definitely come back to this museum again with my kid. Overall, I strongly recommend this museum. It is the No.1 best museum among the hundreds of museums I have seen.

This museum is now firmly within my top 5 favorite museums in the world. I was pleasantly surprised at how large the museum is after deciding to visit last-minute. The exhibits are thoughtfully curated and include not only visuals but optional audio for everything you are viewing. With interesting facts about instruments, artists, and music styles from around the world.
I only had the chance to see about 1/4 of all they have in my quick 2 hour visit so I’d recommend planing a few hours to come here and experience it all.
There is a gallery where you can play a variety of instruments which as a musician was a dream. I’ve always wanted to play a harp and got the chance to do so here!
The gift shop had such a fun variety of unique items, I came away with jewelry made from piano strings that I love!
And on top of it all, this museum was truly inclusive for folks who need special accessibility accommodations. I recently injured my foot putting me on crutches. The staff kindly offered my choice of a wheelchair or electric scooter at no charge to use while in the museum.
I can’t wait for the day I can come back to experience more!!

It was one of the best museums I’ve ever been to. I could easily spend a whole day there. There is music from almost every country and there is a wonderful guided tour that allows you to hear the music of the world. The museum is so well curated, so that you see, listen and learn about music from around the world. The music play room is great for kids. A wonderful time for the entire family.

Absolutely fantastic museum!
My wife and I visited here and could easily have spent all day here. There are so many varieties of so many instruments from so many cultures and so many time periods!
There are exhibits on the ear and hearing, exhibits on orchestra and their setup, exhibits where you can play the instruments themselves.
There are displays of well-known musicians with some of their outfits or instruments they’ve used in their careers. And right alongside of them there are displays of not-as-well-known musicians with some of their outfits or instruments. And the audio-headphone system was very helpful in getting to listen to all the varieties of music.
Then there were different countries and cultures and different types of music and different time periods and even the growth and modernization of some types of instruments. Getting to see the large organ (Apollonia) play was a great experience too.
I think anyone who comes here would find multiple things that interest them, and would really enjoy their visit.

I had a wonderful time going in here and seeing all the different instruments from way back in the day took stuff that’s current. I enjoyed all the way the sections were broke out so you could see different instruments from different locations and also just to come to the place of understanding where music builds our societies and who we are and also molds and changes people and cultures. I would definitely go back here again because I got overwhelmed after I had been there a few hours and had gone through a whole bunch of stuff. There are two sections on it I didn’t even get through.

A great museum for the musically inclined and everyone else! The exhibits are amazing and interesting. There’s a family room where kids of all ages can play with various instruments – gongs, bells, guitars – even an electronic whatyamacallit. Cafeteria and bistro available.
You won’t be disappointed by your visit, and it will take many visits to see it all.
There are special exhibits, as well.

It’s a world class museum and the largest in the world. Everything about it is amazing from the rare instruments from so many cultures to the artist gallery and the aesthetics of the building and grounds. My husband had never been, and he was so impressed that we bought a membership. If you haven’t ever attended a concert in the theater make sure you do! The intimate setting and acoustics are phenomenal!

Great find! Lots of options, for everyone. Really helpful staff, and a bar to hangout and study, relax, chill with friends, etc. lots of gift options, from wind chimes to candles, socks to gems, tarot cards to games. Fun to just walk around and see the diversity of books and people. Worth stopping in!

Great bookstore. I actually like their other location even more—despite being smaller, it feels like they have a wider selection of games and puzzles, plus the area offers a bit more to do. What really stands out is how much they give you for used books. Getting over 40% of the retail value for something you no longer want is hard to beat.

Always curious to check out a small business. The selection and atmosphere however – very politically charged. Not really a big variety of books either like the mystery, history, science sections and anything for school is lacking. I just want to enjoy books and not focus on what’s going on in the world from time to time- it’s good for very liberal folks though. The selection is small. They do offer trade ins- though I have not done that with this business. Did not check out the coffee area but that’s a great combo to have for a book store. They serve alcohol but this place is super expensive – like $13 a beer. They also offer theme nights/nights out. The prices are steep (like Walmart/target/amazon are cheaper) but you can expect that from a small place. Lots of little knick knacks around the place- good gift giving potential but really pulls away from it being a book store about books…. Workers were average but felt like they were trying to rush everyone around/out. Very “buy something quickly or get out”. It’s not just a used book store- I’d say it’s 75% +new. Realistically it’s 3 stars but the 4th is just because we didn’t try any of the extras so I can’t judge/account for that.

Will not return because of small used book and nonfiction selection.
Changing Hands Phoenix is a cute independent bookstore. The largest sections were sci-fi, fantasy, young adult and kids. Not my thing, but probably good for teens and kids. Might be fun to stop by and browse on a date or something. There’s also lots of trinkets and things for sale, and the bar takes up a lot of the store.
I was disappointed to see how small the history section was, and they didn’t have much variety. I have a running list of things I look for and they didn’t have any of them.
Also, the used books are interspersed with new books so you can only tell because of a little sticker. It seemed that most books were new and therefore pretty pricey. Some of the “new” books had slight defects but were still priced as new. I’ve found cheaper copies of some of the used books elsewhere.
I really wanted to like it, but it seems to be more of a hangout/gift shop than serious used bookstore.

I loved this place! They have a great selection of books and the place is well organized. The bar is very clean as well. They had a lot of different craft beers to choose from as well from IPA to Lager over a dozen on tap. I ordered a white mocha and a brownie and they were very tasty! I will definitely bring my kids they will enjoy this place. 5 stars all the way.

We absolutely love hanging out at Lake Pleasant. There are so many different areas, each with a different vibe. You can go to Scorpion Bay Marina to enjoy the water park, dinning on the lake, boat rentals and more. Or, you can hit one of the many swimming areas… our favorite thing to do. There are plenty of swimming areas that can be reached with any type of vehicle, and then there are the more secluded areas on the northeast and east side of the lake that can be reached with a 4×4. We haven’t tried the fishing or the campgrounds yet… but they are next!

Absolutely love Lake Pleasant, my favorite of Lakes in the Phx areas. Love the campgrounds at Road Runner and Desert Tortoise with the best lakefront spots with developed and primitive campsites! Gets crowded on the weekends, party atmosphere so go during the week if you want a more peaceful experience. PLEASE WEAR LIFE VESTS ( every year there are horror stories) and if you don’t know safety protocols for boat rentals and jet skis, get help. People have died getting drunk and being reckless. Wild burros run through the campsites so as you enter the Lake Pleasant area look out for them because they are getting hit by cars You must watch small pets because coyotes are present. Check out sites 11-24 in Roadrunner but you must book months in advance to get the best lakefront sites, they go fast.
Desert Tortoise is harder to level but from there you have access and can hike down to the water easily. Was going here every month for several years and they are open to all types of vehicles, even my Tiny House on wheels! Dump station at exit. These are pics I took from my time spent there.

What a blast we had at Lake Pleasant. It was a short trip from our resort in Peoria, and heard it was a nice place to explore! We saw burros galore, and many of them came up to our car, which was shocking and we loved it. Paved road with several areas to explore trails, swim, day use picnic tables with shade, a nature center, and camping options. We went two days in a row hoping
to see more burros and do more exploring. Really neat place to visit!

This weekend we took the boat out and were able to launch it quickly no problem. The area is clean and easy to get in and out of the park. Bring plenty of food and water as it’s not available unless you’re going to the marina to eat and the restaurants. Parking is not too big of us issue until it gets closer to summer. We love all the wildlife we see including of course the donkeys.

A must-visit, beautiful mountain in the heart of Phoenix with various intensity trails. Always spot lots of wildlife and the trails are busy with hiker and biker activity at various times in the morning. The paved trail up to the main tower is a great high-intensity trail for training. The visitor center side has plenty of parking and the center hosts many activities as well as a lovely information and display area where you can find books on identifying birds and garden insects, gardening in AZ, and many other AZ-themed resources. The picnic and observation deck outside the center is a fabulous space for outdoor yoga, tai chi, etc. Definitely got to check out this leading hiking site in Phoenix.

This is a great place for my kids to learn about the Arizona desert. You could spend all day exploring the trails if you wanted to, but we usually explore for less than an hour in the morning to get my kids used to hiking. The beginning of the trail is perfect for my young ones to experience hiking on flat, easy terrain. Then after we finish our hike, we head over to the visitor center to cool off. It is a beautiful space with a lot of interesting things to look at. We enjoy the children’s room where they have lots of books, and educational toys, although they are outdated. The staff is very friendly as well, and they offer a reading program where kids can earn prizes for books they read.

Interesting and informative place to get acquainted with the park.
It is somewhat frustrating that the trail marker.posts are missing trailmarkers but it’s pretty easy to navigate nonetheless

I like this small museum, exhibit center that tells about how the citizens of Phoenix worked to save the natural desert from development back in the 1970s and continuing through today. It is truly a fabulous find in the middle of Phoenix! I highly recommend taking an hour to look at all the photos of wildlife found in the desert, in the middle of a big city! A lovely Gift Shop, too! Terrific volunteers who can tell you about the hiking trails the area and more.

So peaceful! Beautiful and quiet. The website said the tea room was open and you could enjoy tea while walking the grounds. However, when asked about it, I was told it is only open for tea ceremonies. There’s a nice tiny gift shop there as well. Bathrooms are also part of the aesthetics of the grounds.

I was expecting it to be a bit bigger than what it really was. Walk really slow and enjoy the scenery. My sister and I were able to walk through the garden in 15 minutes. It is a great place to sit and enjoy the sound of the water falling down a small waterfall. We saw one duck while walking. The fish are really big and beautiful.

Beautiful and so serene makes you forget you are in the middle of the city. Peaceful and relaxing. It isn’t a large place but many places to just sit and take in the quiet and calm.

It’s a pretty park/garden, but I will risk sounding unsophisticated by saying that it’s not worth spending money and time on. I expected something maybe 4+ times the size. When we got to the end we were looking to see if we had missed a turn, but we hadn’t. We walked around a second time and stopped to take pictures from every angle just to not leave 15min after we arrived. If you are looking for a photo op for your instagram page, or a romantic spot to sit on a bench for 1/2 an hour it could be for you. To give some context, Surprise, AZ has a community park with a pond that is at least double the size, playground for the kids, ducks, dog park, pickleball courts, lots of grass, fishing… all free. Go there for a few hours, or the day instead.

Beautiful and relaxing place. You can walk through it in about 10 minutes. The most interesting thing about this space is how impressively well they maintain the garden, especially in a very hot state like Arizona.

A spot of tranquility in the middle of Downtown Phoenix. A 5 minute walk from the Metro Line, very close to Roosevelt St with a ton of good places to eat. Not very big, but big enough to enjoy the beautiful scenery and peaceful atmosphere.

This is one of those places you wish you could live nearby! It honestly feels like accessing an art museum for free. The energy you get from walking around is very refreshing; the meticulous intricacies of the art are visually stimulating, and the staff are pleasant and hospitable. Anna was especially accommodating. If you are looking for a particular piece, she will do her best to ensure you find it.

Awesome store and amazing team. Everyone is helpful and friendly, I’ve traveled all around the state looking for specific stuff and this is the most reasonable priced store with a great selection and quality.
It’s also nice purchasing items from a mom and pop shop. They’ve been around for 4 generations.

This place is AMAZING! You can find just about anything. So much stuff, it’s overwhelming! So colorful & vibrant. All kinds of Mexican imports; from planting pots of all sizes, and I do mean that LITERALLY! To fridge magnets, aprons, tequileras, bowls & plates, serving platters, outdoor decor, etc. It is a place you must see, you’re definitely bound to find something that suits your style. I experienced pleasant & friendly customer service. Only downside is that the isles a VERY narrow, some even impossible to get through and crowd control is tricky. **99% of the products are breakables!! They definitely need a warehouse, Costco style, for all these gorgeous nik-naks. Definitely coming back. I DO NOT recommend you bring children to this place. Parking is right off the street, location is easy to find, close to freeway.

Our first visit today. They could not have been nicer. Helped us find the appropriate pot. And then when we got home found that the sculpture we wanted to put in the pot didn’t fit. We took our sculpture back to the shop and they cut it for us. Amazing service. Highly recommend them!

Lucas was a great guide with a wealth of knowledge. When it was available, he did not hesitate to have us inside of buildings to tell the stories so that we were out of the heat. I was originally scheduled for a different date but had to reschedule due to him not feeling well. However, Lucas was more than willing to do anything in his power to make it up. He was even kind enough to order a driving service for us at the end of the tour so that we did not have to walk back to the starting point. Great information and great tour.

I’ve done three ghost tours in downtown Phoenix and this was by far the most comprehensive, professional, and well researched of them all. Our guide Lorelei was incredible. She knew so much about the history of the buildings and about the paranormal activity in each. I live downtown and we saw places even I didn’t know about! I highly recommend this tour!
