Motel 6 Phoenix - Black Canyon

So as a hot shot truck driver, I needed a place to stay quickly as I was out of hours and needed to do a 34 hr reset. Not a lot of places to stay with a 66 ft vehicle. I should have stayed in the truck stop! The place is run down and outdated. The smell of weed everywhere. Truck parking was easy to get in. The gated fenced in yard and bullet proof glass did not instill confidence. The room a/c unit was cracked all up but did work well. Only 2 outlets in the whole unit. they only work with the light on! very frustrating. The toilet was discombobulated. small tank big lid taped on seat wrong size. I will say the place seemed to be very clean. Pillows... 3 stacked feels like one.|If I had other options, I would take them.

Look at my reviews. Rarely do I ever say anything negative about a business; I'm very easy to please. This review is a rare exception.||||Key points: Desk clerk is behind bullet-proof glass communicating via a Charlie-Brown-quality speaker. Entire property surrounded by high fence with security gates. The overall vibe is one of maximum-security prison, or perhaps post-apocalyptic wasteland. I am grateful that management has taken the responsibility to do these things to assure the safety of its guests. However, I simply do not wish to stay someplace where such measures are necessary to assure my safety. I've stayed in a LOT of major cities and have never encountered a hotel like this.||||That said, our room was very clean and tidy; nothing fancy but perfectly acceptable in and of itself. And in fairness, nothing the least bit unpleasant occurred during our stay. But our discomfort was extreme nonetheless. Though we had originally reserved two nights, we checked out after the first. Driving about randomly in Scottsdale turned up a far more satisfactory hotel for the second night.

Locked gate to get in is nice, but my key card didnt work for it so I still had to call the desk to get in. Phone in the room didn't work, not even a dial tone, had to use my cell phone to call the desk. Specifically booked this hotel because of the tubs, apparently none of the tubs have plugs so they're unusable. Attempted to ask a housekeeper for help but she didn't speak English. Plug for the built in chargers was broken off in the wall. All in all would not stay here ever again.

It’s a low budget place, but it’s fairly clean & hassle free

I’m no dummy and I understand this type of hotel is on the budget side but the reviews had it 4 out of 5 and my stay was only going to be for one night. It indeed did not live up to expectations. Armed security, lots of people loitering, loud music. After waiting 30 mins to check in we were harassed by someone driving by making sexual comments to my partner. The room was made up clean but was in disrepair. Broken lock on the door, cigarette burns on the sheets and mattress and several urine stains on the mattress, and mold growing on the ceiling. We did not feel comfortable staying and tried to contact the hotel via phone and no one answered or the phone was acting broken. We even reached out to the 3rd party booking company and they reached out that evening and the next morning with no answer. We left that evening and decided to stay somewhere else. When we left there was no one at the front desk as well to alert, The 3rd party and myself were finally contacted days later. The manager denied any issues with the phone and didn’t care about any photos or video evidence. Claimed he could not do anything to help me since I never reached out during my stay. Hard to do so when the phone doesn’t work and no ones working the front desk. The lady when I checked in was polite "although couldn’t hear me well through the glass and her ear buds. The manager was professional and apologetic but offered no solution and denied any concerns. Would not recommend or stay here again.

Check in was a breeze with Bola I arrived a little after 2am. He was great up beat and very welcoming. He works the overnight shift and I'm use to grumpy tired front desk agents but he was happy to see me. I wasn't sure what to expect since the reviews scared me! But I got a room on the lower level close to the office 2 beds and the room was very CLEAN! Since I work in hospitality I always check the mattresses for bed bugs no matter if I'm in a 5star hotel or a motel bugs travel with people so I checked and it was clear! We used the room to sleep and shower. We were out the whole day. Parking was free and SECURE. Security on sight 24/7. There are NO drug dealers outside the hotel. Will return!

I’m not sure how this place has 3+ star review rating. The room was as pictured though clearly very dated up close, and relatively clean (no visible roaches), but that’s about all the good I can say about it. Weird policy of taking a copy of your ID, and posted signs at check-in window indicating a 10pm curfew and other odd policies. The lobby is closed, and you must stand outside the check-in window, passing ID, etc through the security opening. That said, the check-in employee was pleasant but very to the point. The guest parking area is surrounded by a gate, which you can only enter with room key card (probably gives you an idea of the character of the area). We arrived very late, and since only staying 1 night and had secured reservation with a cc (would pay anyway if we didn’t stay) we decided to stay. If I were alone, I would have found somewhere else.
