I attended a conference here recently. This hotel's best assets are the staff - just wonderful! Ken at the front desk was especially helpful, along with a couple of other ladies (didn't get their names)! Our room was clean and comfortable, however, the bathroom needs work. Whenever we took a shower water leaked out onto the floor. Fortunately, the housekeeping staff was amazing and helped us to keep plenty of large towels in our room to soak up all of the water. Very poor shower design. I heard other conference attendees say their bathroom had the exact same problem. The bed was very comfortable, and it was really nice to have a fridge that maintained an ice cold temp. The very large TV was also a plus. We made good use of the swimming pool - it's not large, but it was clean and especially nice to go to at night. There are a lot of good restaurants within close walking distance in all price ranges, as well as a grocery store. Chase Field is also a super easy 10 minute walk.
We had an outstanding stay at the Renaissance in Phoenix. The customer service was truly above and beyond from start to finish. Patrick Howard, the head of security and a fellow Texan, personally gave us a tour of the property, which was such a thoughtful touch. He even sent a kind handwritten note and a welcome gift to our room—gestures that made us feel genuinely cared for and appreciated as guests. Experiences like that are rare and memorable. The property itself is beautiful. The lobby is elegant and inviting, the restaurant was very enjoyable, and the Starbucks on-site was a convenient bonus. We also loved discovering the speakeasy in the basement—it’s a unique and fun feature that added extra character to our stay. The location is also ideal, with plenty of restaurants nearby, and the service throughout the hotel—including the valet—was impeccable. Overall, the combination of excellent service, a gorgeous property, and thoughtful details made this one of our favorite Marriott stays. We would absolutely stay here again, no questions asked.
This hotel is directly next to a building being built and construction happens all night long because of the heat. No one warned me. At least a heads up would have been nice so I could get east plugs. I got maybe 3 hours of sleep. The hotel staff didn’t seem to care and were very dismissive. The features in the room are a bit dated for a Renaissance although the dog lamp was cute. Room service comes as bag and paper container. What happened to nice room service?
Unfortunately, this did not meet my expectations for a four-star hotel. We booked two rooms, and both had a strong smell of mold or mildew coming from the bathrooms. The cleanliness was far below expectations — the carpets clearly hadn’t been vacuumed properly, with visible food remnants and a thick layer of dust between the beds and nightstands. We even found Cheetos crumbs left behind from previous guests. In one of the rooms, turning on the heat released a burning dust smell, and both rooms felt quite cramped.||That said, there were some positives. Valet service was excellent — very attentive and courteous. The Dust Cutter restaurant was a highlight with delicious food and friendly, attentive staff. The art in the lobby was beautiful, and having a Starbucks on-site was a convenient bonus. The location is also great, just a short walk to both Footprint Center and Chase Field.||One issue: at check-in, I was told I had a $25 restaurant credit per room per day, but this was never applied to my bill. I didn't notice until after checkout, and by then it was too late to resolve.||Overall, while some aspects of the hotel were impressive, the room conditions and misleading information at check-in made this a disappointing stay.
This will be a non-issue soon as they are upgrading all of the bathrooms. Our bathroom did not have a clean smell as there were smells coming from the bath drain. But other than that, the service was fabulous, beds and pillows out-of-this-world comfortable and the location seemed to be close to everything we needed.
Great rooms. Comfy bed. My only two complaints are that the AC is noisy, sounding much like an old washing machine running all night, and that there is no real business center. Only a FedEx office that charges you by the minute to use their internet and computer. Disappointing since I’ve been to much lower cost hotels that don’t even charge by the minute to use their business center. It just seems avaricious. My job requires a lot of light weight travel so I don’t always bring my laptop. This is really too nice of a place not offer a business center. Other than that, great location and beautiful hotel. I would recommend.
EXCELLENCE IN SERVICE FROM THE ENTRY DOOR TO THE CONCIERGE LOUNGE….. I even had a fully signed birthday card and gift basket waiting for me when I arrived! Susie and Lee in the Lounge were AMAZING professionals. My husband and I always enjoy coming here, and it is always an awesome experience! I was a bit fatigued after flight delays and did not get the name of the wonderful young lady who checked us in - but she deserves a hats off too!!! Love it here.
