I will start by saying everyone is very kind. There is usually no wait time. They seem to genuinely care about their patients. At first they had an extensive exam including evaluating inflammation in my joints, my proprioception, and gross motor/equilibrium. I did not see how this lengthy exercise was translated into my care plan, nor was it re-evaluated at the end to monitor improvement. They never mentioned the ‘results’ of it so maybe I just passed without relevant findings? The suggested supplements were recommended from my blood work. They presented a ‘care plan’ of a couple thousand dollars to help me do a liver cleanse and heal my leaky-gut. I felt this was presented in a high-pressure sales pitch. I didn’t have a clear understanding of what the program was and why a liver cleanse would cost so much. However, they did let me think on it for a few days without raising the price, so I greatly appreciated that. Although I already ate ‘healthy’ with few processed foods they removed all gluten, dairy, most carbs, and many vegetables (during the cleanses) which radically changed how I ate. Unfortunately, I didn’t feel like there was enough support with the recipes (was this a main dish or side dish? Does it feed 2 people or 8? Do I balance it with another dish of carbs, fats, or proteins?) I was very vocal about my frustration and felt they heard me. Although they didn’t have the solution I needed I hope they will soon. I often felt hungry, extremely fatigued, and lost a lot of weight – which was not healthy for me. When I regularly asked I was told it was ‘normal’ with the cleanses and it would get better. I was told a ‘healthy weight’ was whatever I felt it should be and to just add more carbs while keeping my blood sugar under 110 after a meal (which for me was very hard – almost any carb would spike my blood sugar but I was told that would get better with time). When I called and emailed with a problem they waited three business days to respond and then asked if it was still a problem. As the internet provided a quasi-solution the cause wasn't addressed. When I told them my yeast infection returned (the main reason I started the program) I was asked if I had talked with my PCP. They offered no solutions or tests to find the root cause, which I thought was the whole purpose of functional medicine. After 3 months I finally realized I was reacting to all of the coconut products I had been eating since they took me off of dairy, which finally explained some of the bloating I had been experiencing. However, coconut had never been an issue before when I ate it only occasionally, so I’m frustrated in that I felt it ‘got worse’. When we ended the program I didn’t feel healed, I just felt they didn’t have the answers I needed. My cholesterol and anti-bodies did go down so there was healing in those areas. Shortly after I spoke with a cousin who is a Functional Medicine MD (not a chiropractor) in another state. He quickly identified a lack of stomach acid (which explains the loss of weight and why I struggled to keep my blood sugar even), bacterial problems, hormone issues, contaminated water and electromagnetic sensitivities. My blood sugar has improved dramatically and I feel so much better after only two weeks. I feel the Functional Medicine Center of Arizona has many answers and tools available. But I also feel there is significant gap in what they provided and what I needed. I’m sure as they continue to receive more education and experience they will become the answer for alternative care in the West Valley. I also received Neurofeedback. I do believe it helped, although it is a subtle change. She was very attentive to what I was experiencing and needed. I feel it is a good piece of the healing puzzle, although not the whole puzzle.
As part of my plan, acupuncture was suggested and it really helped balance my body. The pain that I have been through on my leg and heel have been taken care of. The good care from the doctor has helped me greatly in many ways!
I am an employee of FMC/FHC and started receiving treatment about 4 months ago. My sleep and energy has improved a lot, and several other symptoms have been resolved as my overall health has improved. Thanks to the team, I have more resources and skills now to help me be more conscious of what I eat and how it makes me feel.
I had a growth in my womb and my lower back. The treatment I received from functional medicine center of arizona helped me a lot with my problem and the pain in my back. I recommend functional medicine center of arizona as the practitioners are very kind and friendly.
Had a very good initial visit at Functional Medicine Center of Arizona. Dr. Haller was very thorough and seemed knowledgeable. She listened and seemed to understand my concerns and expectations. I'm looking forward to my next visit to get the results and hopefully some answers to my health challenges. I much prefer the model that Functional Medicine Center of Arizona uses for their plan as opposed to another Functional Medicine doctor I visited in the area. Highly recommend Functional Medicine Center of Arizona nd Dr. Haller.
As I was meeting with the Doctor for one of my functional visits, I also had an arm muscle ache and an affliction in my eye. The vitamins and therapies that I received were spot on. They are very kind and attentive.
I had a lot of shoulder pain, after signing up the vitamins and acupuncture fixed me up! The kind doctor and charismatic staff made it way better.
