After 10 years of life my dog became ill and had to be put to sleep. It was a very painful decision. However the doctors and the staff at the Arizona Humane Society was supportive, explained the procedure and was very thoroughly and comforting during a difficult time. Before putting my companion to rest he was given two medical exams by two different vets. The staff was very composoniste and ginger with us both. To be honest it wasn’t what I was expecting. The doctors gave me several researched based options and let me make a decision on what was best for my pet. Prior to going to the Humane Society I took him to the vet which I loved but was very expensive have the exact same advice on prognosis and treatment. If you are looking for animal care at a professional affordable price with doctors and staff that are invested in animal safety and well being I would surely check out the Humane Society. They provided me with excellent, caring and supportive service during a difficult time. Thank you to all the staff and doctors for your support.

I adopted my cat here a couple of years ago and took her back for her booster shots today. The place is clean, and the staff is super nice. Her shots were only $25, and there was no office visit fee. We were in and out super quick!

I had volunteered to take a field trip with a dog from here. She was a beautiful green eyed 3-legged white dog with tiny black spots named Dianna⁴⁴. I love her and wish I could adopt her but I wouldn’t be able to give her quality time. She deserves better

Lunch at little o’s and a quick trip to home depot to walk down the aisles and she attracted many people to come to us and say HI. Hopefully soon someone will fall in love like l did and adopt her.

I love this place. My first adoption was a male mix. He was 1 years young. He lived almost 17 years. Now I adopted a chiweeni they think is 8 years young. She will have the best years like my last one. ❤️

June 5th 2025 2 DAYS AGO ahead I had an appointment for my puppy who was 14 weeks old to get her second portion of the parvo shot the first one which was about 4 weeks prior was fine there was no issues or anything and they said that the second one was the same thing as the first one just she just couldn’t get them all at once because it was too much she was too small she was however at the correct age to get her vaccines I went to my appointment at 8:00 a.m. she got her one vaccine before 8:30 and we were out of there I dropped her off at home and went to work came home and she was dead…. my poor baby NOW WE JUST HERE WITH HEAVY HEARTS AND GELLA TEARS …. I went back the next morning and told them about it and asked for the copy of the vaccine record and all they said was oh no I’m so sorry and that was it ……….. no accountability no offer for investigation no concern no offer for assistance with cremation or anything…. now here we are a whole entire thing of stuff for our puppy that we had bought in over the last few weeks only to make her an appointment to keep her healthy and her be dead less than 8 hours later….. (middle fingers all the way up) …REST IN PARADISE BABY MUFFIN !!!!

I can’t say enough about how great the staff was there and how much I appreciate how nicely they had the room set up with the dimmed lights, soft music, and setting the expectations. Thank you all so much. For helping my 15 year old cat pass easily and without pain and for helping me through this very tough time also.

We adopted our sweet Samantha one week ago and we had a great experience! We saw pictures of her and her siblings online and then went for a meet and greet at Chandler mall where we adopted her within the hour. We couldn’t be happier with this sweet puppy, she fits in so perfectly with our family and has the best time with her new big sis ❤️

I adopted my boy, Tucker, from here and he’s the best boy in the entire world. I love him so much. He is very smart, has a lot of personality and is very adorable. Please adopt from here and treat the dogs how you would like to be treated as they are voiceless. They have a lot of dogs and cats that are looking for their furever home and are so loving.

Update: I have had my boy for a bit of a long while now and he’s such a great dog. I have posted some of him running in the backyard. He has lived in both Arizona and Texas with me. He’s great in the car and everyone loves him. He was approved to be an ESA dog. Please adopt please do not shop, there are so many dogs that need our/humans help. The shelter provided me with a white kennel but I ended up purchasing a black one that can fit a German Shepard and he loves free roaming in and out. Please look up the statistics of how many dogs and cats get euthanized everyday due to poor ownership. Springer/cocker spaniels require daily exercise more than the typical smaller breeds. Please know and research what kind of dog you are adopting so you can give them a new lease/chance at thriving. He loves a scheduled routine.

AAWL is the best, they are a great organization. I adopted Marjorie a 13yr old kitty today, she is already sleeping on a sml doggie bed on my headboard as I type this review. My 2 doggies took my lead & accepted her wholeheartedly. Thnx for everything AAWL

I adopted my sweet special needs girl from AAWL a few months ago and couldn’t be happier. She was born with a birth defect resulting in her eyelids not being fully formed, and underwent surgery prior to arriving at AAWL. After seeing her and a few others online I went in to visit and immediately fell in love with her. The staff was EXTREMELY kind and helpful. They took extra steps to ensure she went to a good home that had done their research and knew what to expect medically. In addition, I had a LOT of questions about her records and advice before I moved forward. Every individual I spoke with was really great and the entire adoption process went off without a hitch.

I have already recommended AAWL to multiple people, and will continue to do so to anyone that will listen. Overall fantastic experience and I’m so thankful AAWL helped us find each other!!

This has to be a strange review, because the reason why I’m giving this place a bad review has nothing to do with the dog I adopted while there. If anything, the dog I adopted, Arlin, has been amazing. Wonderful dog, and I’m glad that I adopted her.

The reason why I’m giving this place a 1-star review is because while I was there the receptionists were gloating over Charlie Kirk’s assassination. One of them started laughing about how he was going to die. I’m not political, at all, but it’s still disgusting behavior how whoever the receptionists working on September 10th from 1 to 2 PM were watching Charlie Kirk’s throat being ripped open on national television, and enthusiastically LAUGHING about it. “I love crime”; “Hopefully he dies”‘; “thank god there’s no way he could survive that.”

But hey, he was pro-life, so it’s alright to be disgusting and laugh about him getting killed in front of his family and the entire nation.

Over a week ago we went to the animal welfare league located in the chandler fashion mall. Going in we wanted a different type of dog but I am glad we chose to also meet our little girl Oreo. We love her and thankful to the animal welfare league for helping us adopt her. They were so helpful with information and helped us gather supplies for her to come home with us. We highly recommend this shelter for anyone to adopt. The staff also are very friendly, supportive, and helpful. Thank you all for taking our Oreo in so we could take her home.

Nikki (upfront) was fantastic and personable. I really enjoyed my experience with her. I’m giving four stars because of the length of time having to be here to adopt a dog. It took three hours from start to finish. The dog I adopted ended up being very sick (thankfully not distemper) so I had a pretty expensive ($400+) vet bill a week later, but he’s a great dog and I’m completely happy that we adopted him. The other reason for four stars is the shape the dog was in. I wish they would clean them up a little before they go home. My boy was matted with poop in his long fur and smells like urine, but I can’t bathe him until he’s healed from his neuter. I brought him home and cleaned him up and brushed him out the best I can, but it feels a little sad to me that they don’t have anyone that can give the adopted dogs back their dignity upon exit. If I lived closer, I would definitely volunteer to do it, as I used to assist a dog groomer, but I’m 40 minutes away. 🙁 Jack (formerly known as Gene lol) is doing great in his new home! Thanks!!

The staff who assist in adoptions were very nice and helpful. They were completely honest about their dogs and made sure not to hide anything brought to their attention that may be of concern or require more attention and behavioral work to the dog you’re thinking of adopting.
I brought my girl Pip home recently and she is such a sweetheart. They have so many kind, gentle, and playful dogs each with ranging personalities. The staff were very honest about Pip and her timid personality, they ran me through what the process would look like for a dog like her and the patience and steps required to make her feel secure and at home.
The only reason I give a 4 star review is because Pip came home sick with pretty bad kennel cough, which their vetinary services provided me medications for free!

We adopted a female dog a few months ago from maricopa County Shelter’s main campus I17 and Durango curve. They sent her home sick and did not let us know. We took her to the vet and racked up a fifteen hundred dollar vet bill only to have to return her because we could not get a solid diagnosis on what the issue was. She
taking antibiotics for 10 days. She was still severely sick. We called the shelter to let them know that are newly adopted dog was severely ill and ask if we could bring her back to have one of their vets Do a check over on her and more extensive tests. They stated that you signed the contract stating you take full responsibility. I understand I signed a contract, but you did not disclose
the dog was sick. They were not apologetic or did not offer to get the dog well. No concern for the health/well being of the animal now they’re calling us today, stating they want something back in regards to microchip and that the dog has not been readopted very upsetting to know that they send home sick Dogs with kennel cough pneumonia. Whatever it was that couldn’t get properly diagnosed after going to the vet 2 days within 6 days post adoption. I highly discourage you from adopting this location, maricopa County Animal Shelter. They are too busy pushing pets out and not taking care of their health before they adopt an animal. Very upsetting and an expense for testing and medication that I feel that the county should have picked up since they sent home lilith sick.

I would give this place -0 stars if I could. Please, DO NOT EVER SURRENDER YOUR DOG TO ANY OF THESE LOCATIONS.
They claim to have a 93% no-kill rate over the past 8 years, but that is absolutely not true. One of my clients surrendered a dog, and by the fourth day they had already put him down. I found out he had been surrendered on that fourth day, immediately called to get him, and was told he had already been euthanized.
The staff member I spoke with was extremely rude and showed no compassion whatsoever for the dogs or their lives. They gave him no chance.
STOP TAKING YOUR DOGS HERE. If you are in a situation where you can no longer care for your dog, please find them a new home yourself or reach out to a rescue. These dogs do not deserve to end up here, where their lives are cut short without mercy.
My heart is broken. STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS PLACE AND ANY OF ITS LOCATIONS.
SHEP did not deserve this. He deserved a chance.
And to anyone considering surrender: STOP expecting your dogs not to act like dogs. They will react sometimes. They will follow their instincts. They may get upset and act out. But that does not mean they are unworthy of love or life. Dogs show us loyalty every day, show them the same loyalty in return. Please, don’t give up on them.

I recently adopted my beautiful girl “Sky” from here during their adoption event. She has been amazing and adapting very well. The only issue i came across was that she caught Kennel Cough from the shelter. As soon as i seen symptoms i took her to the vet and got her antibiotics. She is doing much better now ♥️ She is vaccinated for kennel cough, distemper, and Parvo – so i was a little confused on how she was still able to catch it. After doing some research i guess it’s still possible for them to be infected even after vaccination. The reason i’m giving 4 stars is because when we picked her up after her surgery the employee dumped her in the car and just walked away. Like she was trash. No goodbye or anything it felt heartless. Anyways, she’s in a loving home now and i’m so happy to have saved her from this place.

Here’s our story:
We adopted our second dog here—a wonderful German Shepherd named Chalula. Although she was returned by her previous family for growling and barking at their other dogs, we appreciated how upfront the staff were about her behavior. We believed she just needed more time to adjust, and we were right. Chalula immediately warmed up to us, and we brought her home the same day.
At home, our husky quickly became her best friend. While Chalula was initially a bit reserved in her new surroundings, they’ve now become inseparable, playing and chasing each other throughout the day. We’re thrilled that Chalula is in a loving, forever home. This is her after our walk tonight. Adopt. ❤️

just got our family our second pup from here (German shepherd) and she’s wonderful! she’s currently sitting at my feet chewing on a toy as I type this and our first pup (Jack Russell terrier) we adopted from here is on my left chilling on the couch.

I was looking for a companion for my terrier mix who had fallen into a deep depression after his buddy of many years had to be put down. I had checked the website and there were 2 possibilities. We were introduced to both of them and, although it was a hard decision, we came home with Granola (now Zac). He is working out wonderfully after 2 days…just needs to figure out some boundaries with the resident dog.

The facility is clean, bright and cheerful. The staff was wonderfully helpful, making the whole experience enjoyable for all 3 of us. I recommend Halo as a great place to adopt.

Halo is an absolutely awful place to adopt from, and I would never recommend them to anyone.

They clearly do not take proper care of their animals. Almost every cat in the facility was visibly sick — sneezing, watery eyes, and even strange breathing. Yet they have the audacity to limit you to holding only two cats per day “to prevent germs,” which is laughable considering how many of their cats are already sick.

You don’t even get to meet the cats in a calm or safe way. They make you hold the cat standing up, right outside its cage, in a loud room with other cats and people watching. No private room, no chance to sit down, no real way to see the cat’s personality. The cats are clearly terrified and stressed.

The worst part? They sent us home with a kitten who was so sick he could barely breathe. Within hours, he was panting, sneezing, and fighting for air. We had to rush him to the ER, where we were told he had a 106 degree fever and that he would have died that night without immediate oxygen, fluids, and intensive care.

He was later diagnosed with multiple contagious illnesses that now put my healthy adult cat at risk. Halo completely downplayed his condition and sent him home after neuter surgery without even checking that he was stable enough to leave.

This was one of the scariest experiences of my life. Our kitten would not be alive today if we hadn’t acted immediately.

The worst part is, Halo will not help cover the insane medical bills and take no responsibility for their neglect.

Their staff has the worst attitude I have ever seen. And Heather Allen, the CEO, is just the most unhelpful and heartless person. I think there’s a special place for people who take such awful care of these sweet animals.

Halo should be ashamed of how they run this place. If you care at all about animal welfare, your finances, or your peace of mind — stay far, far away from Halo.

Make sure to get a worm/parasite check from your vet ASAP when adopting from a rescue. I asked about all of the health checks that had been done prior to adopting our 3 month old puppy from halo. They said they administered a single dose of a dewormer as a precaution, but that no tests were actually done for worms or parasites. I decided to get a fecal check from my vet just in case because we have another dog. The rescue recommended quarantining the puppy from our other dog for 10 days (which we did – separate room in a pen, 10 feet away from a secondary dog gate just in case), but he had also been neutered so that set back his first vet visit. Hindsight 20/20 I would’ve IMMEDIATELY dropped off the fecal sample at our vet the DAY I adopted. The puppy we adopted ended up infecting our other dog with an intestinal parasite that resulted in multiple trips to the vet, weeks of quarantine for both of them, emergency vet visits due to repeated vomiting, medications, bland diet, and a serious setback in helping this little dude through his anxiety. The volunteers were excited to see him go because they said he would scream in the kennel.. He’s vocal which we’ve been working on but you can tell it’s mostly anxiety and he’s already improved significantly.. outside of the stress of all of that.. the puppy we adopted is adjusting well to his new home and him and his big brother are getting along. If you adopt, get a parasite/worm check the first day, buy a case of gloves, keep them away from your other pets, wash your hands and change your clothes before touching anything else in your house.. like when they say quarantine… QUARANTINE or you’ll be sorry. Did you know the parasite Coccidia (Cystoisostora) can live up to a year in the environment? I didn’t until now. I’ve never done so much laundry in my life and we now own a steam mop because apparently the only thing that kills this parasite is boiling temperatures or iodine… so.. good luck to future adopters!

Working On Possible Adoption for Fudge… So,far Communication has been beyond Excellent. Answered Any and All Questions and Setting up a Meet n Greet…This My First Time at this and they have made My Experience Comfortable!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND

They have the best manager and employees. They take the greatest care of their pets in the facility. There was a time when I was working there when people would leave their animals at our doorstep and run away and we took them with no question to help them medicate them and make sure they got a proper home. There are the best and will always be the best come look and adopt a lot of pets here need to be loved.

We adopted “Waffle” about 3 months ago. Her name is now Mabel, but what a joy she has been! I’m so thankful for Halo. They made sure she was all healthy and well before we picked her up. It was a super easy process and I wouldn’t change a thing! She’s a happy & healthy pup & has changed our lives for the better ❤️ She’s the smartest girl. She’s doing so well with training already! Thank you Halo!

Truly disheartened at this so called rescue. Too many “rescues” are just hoarding situations. This rescue treats their dogs like maricopa county. Shoving multiple into a kennel as there’s not enough space, dogs fighting in their kennels, adopting out sick animals, the list goes on. They do not do home checks and don’t care about the well being of the animals in their care. Honestly, they’re just contributing to the problem. How many of these pets go on to be treated poorly and abandoned. A good rescue will vet potential adopters, enrich the animals in their care, know each dog individually, provide training or behavior modification, etc. The conditions are sad. Why are dogs piled together in multiples and why are they fighting? The staff doesn’t seem to be knowledgeable, probably just hired to do grunt work. There are some truly amazing rescues out there that really care about their mission and Halo doesn’t seem to be one of them.

I just absolutely love this location. The staff is always welcoming and friendly. They answer questions on the spot and direct people to the proper areas.
My grandson attends summer camp at this location. He absolutely loves this facility, the instructors, and knowledge he gains during his camp weeks. He enjoys feeling like a part of staff when pets get ogled over and adopted out.
We both love looking at all of the kittens upstairs after camp is over.
We have adopted 3 kittens in the last 3 years. The adoption processes have always been simple and non-stressful. Our questions and concerns were always answered and we were always assured to call with any questions.
It’s amazing what is included in the adoption fee… Sterilization of the pet, immunizations, medical history and information on when the next immunization is due. People are quick to complain that adoption fees are expensive. Please call a vet, ask for specific pricing, write everything out on paper and add it up. You will see that adoption through Arizona Humane Society is easy on the wallet.
We will continue to use this facility for any future adoptions, camp weeks, and future donations.

We came here for a free adoption day and it took almost 8 hours of waiting in line and sitting around before we finally got to see a few of the kittens we were interested in. The staff did an amazing job, even though they must have been overwhelmed with the amount of people there to adopt a pet. The wait was more than worth it as we found our furever pet who instantly fit in and became a part of the family. Thank you to the AHS staff for all of the tireless work you put in to care for and find these fur-babies new homes.

My Granddaughter is attending a summer camp there. outstanding program for youth. All day program, classroom instruction is indoors. Offered for all different age groups. Interaction with animals, tour of the hospital and facilities.
Fills up quickly.

I fostered for them and they sold me a kitten with health issues. And told me she was fine and healthy. 7 months later still spending a ridiculous amount of money trying to get her healthy. Severe eye issues still and horrible skin condition. I have always supported and loved the humane society. But the fact that they sold me a sick cat is extremely frustrating.

We recently adopted our new kitty from here. Every time we visited this location, it has always been clean, and the staff has been friendly. We love our cutie Cheeto! We also won their raffle this month but we live in Tucson, and they were kind enough to mail the winnings. I love donating every month to a good cause (:

We adopted a cat recently and the experience could not have been better. The cat is wonderful and immediately fit right in with our family. Everyone there was so helpful! The shelter is very clean, and the process went very smoothly. We are very happy!

Awesome place and staff! Lisa Romero helped us with items that our pets needed and while there, they had lots of different animals on display that they were happy to teach about, the atmosphere and staff is very warm and caring. The location is right off the 202 & 52nd street so it’s very convenient, the facilities and grounds are super clean and well maintained, I would definitely suggest this location to anyone who needs to visit an animal humane society.

My husband and I adopted last year. Our Australian Cattle dog mix, Fabio, has been the greatest addition to our family. Home Fur Good has excellent customer service, and we are still in contact with the staff member who helped us in our process. I am a first-time “pawrent” and I had a wonderful experience.

This place is just wonderful! We got our beautiful kitten from here, and Heloise helped us every step of the way. I love that they’re a no-kill shelter, and it is obvious that the animals there are well taken care of. They offer affordable adoption fees, along with useful information for low cost fees for medical care.

I had been thinking about getting a pet of my very own after my mom passed away. I’ve always wanted a Siamese even though I’m allergic. My sister found Pen Pen on home fur good’s website. I debated for a few weeks whether I should go see her and when I arrived I was doubtful that she’d still be there because she was so beautiful. But she was! Hidden from view with a towel over her cage and presented to me like a raptor from Jurassic park. I was shown other cats around the room. All cute. But I really wanted to make it work with Pen Pen. Her criteria was no kids, no dogs and certainly no other cats. I am a single girl and I just wanted one kitty to love and miss Pen Pen, renamed Penelope Rose , was puurrrfect! I love her so. She’s my best friend.

No kill and they take great care of the pups short timers and long timers. I got this 9yrs young doggo there.

What an incredibly disappointing and disheartening experience. I found a friendly stray kitten and, after hearing firsthand that this rescue had accepted kittens recently, I came here hoping to do the right thing and get her to safety.

From the moment we arrived, we were met with rudeness. An employee in the parking lot immediately tried to stop us from even entering, asking if we had an appointment and then abruptly stating, “We are NOT taking kittens right now. We have NO fosters.” Despite that, we attempted to enter the building to ask for help or at least get some guidance or resources — anything. She seemed annoyed and only reluctantly allowed us in after we asked.

Inside, she made sure to loudly announce to the front desk, “They found a kitten that we CAN’T take,” and walked off after telling the lady at the front desk to print resources for us. There was no compassion, no attempt to provide us with that or any other information until we insisted. It was a cold, unwelcoming response to someone simply trying to help an animal. The lady at the front desk did as she was told, and she was at least a little friendlier but still never mentioned anything else to us other than answering questions I was posing about the care.

I was also told that they don’t accept walk-in kittens — but I personally know someone who was able to drop one off just weeks prior. I later found out from their own website that they do consider intakes by appointment and that fostering until intake is a potential option — none of which was mentioned to us at all.

I understand that rescues can be overwhelmed and limited in space, but that doesn’t excuse treating people poorly when they’re trying to do the right thing. Kindness and clear communication go a long way, especially in animal rescue.

What an incredibly terrible way to greet someone trying to help an animal.

I used the dental services for a cat. The price is bargain basement, so although some of the people seem to care for animals, don’t expect much actual attention.
My cat had an appointment for 9:30 in the morning, arrived on time to find a room full of 4 dogs in very large kennels, no other cat in sight. They took the entire business day to get around to my cat–it was almost 3:00pm–leaving her in a very small travel kennel ALL DAY with no litter box, no water, presumably no other attention since there were only two attendents and the vet–and a blanket over the top of the kennel so she would not see out or have fresh air or attention. They called at the end of the day for me to come get her; could not give me an estimate of cost until they had already finished the treatment, and I had to pay in cash because they do not take bank cards. The vet did call after closing to see how the cat was doing. No follow appointment was offered–That’s ok, I would not have gone anyway. Taking her to an actual veterinarian’s office to ensure they needed to pull *7 teeth*, and that the cat is healing properly.

It’s a wonderful place. A no-kill shelter with a wonderful staff. Everyone is kind and generous. I was able to spend as much time as I needed with my new companion Floyd. Tina helped me make the right decision and I have a spectacular new friend. If you are looking to make friends with a new dog this is the place to go. When adopting they give you good advice. They are doing wonderful work so if you don’t adopt a dog here than please make a donation. The place is full of love and kindness. An amazing concept that does so much to help pet rescue organizations in Arizona as well as helping save more pets lives by connecting the animal welfare community. The smitten kitten nursery is especially awesome!

I went to Kitten Yoga at Heidi’s Village today and it was an incredible experience! The staff were kind, friendly, and super engaged. A great way to reach the community for a good cause. I hope there are more Kitten Yoga events in the future! I will be the first to sign up!

Got our newest members of the family from here and couldn’t be more pleased with the whole experience! The whole thing started because I saw the funniest looking photo of Panasonic (now Ruby) online. We went to meet her and also met Uldren Sov (now Max). We couldn’t stop thinking about them so we went and brought them home. They have changed our lives already. The people who work here love their jobs and you can tell. Everyone we interacted with was so excited to see the cats stay a pair. While we were also there adopting our cats a litter that was previously brought here had walked in the door and again all the workers knew the cats and were so excited to see the kittens yet again. It was incredible seeing the love pour out of this place. From our first steps in to getting them home the whole experience was one of a kind. I’ve never seen a place care so much for what they do. It shows in the love that these animals have brought into our house. Btw to anyone who works here Max is the biggest cuddle bug. He climbs on our chests when he wants attention. We thought Max was the leader but we’ve learned it’s actually Ruby. They’re such balls of light. Thank you so much.

There is not a day that goes by that I am not thankful for this place. We have our sweet Callie girl because we went here and gave her a chance and I cannot imagine life without her. It’s been about 4 years 🙂 Thank you Heidi’s Village for Calliope 🙂

I did a puppy yoga class here. ❤️ I couldnt focus on the yoga tho. I love that they take care of mom’s and their pups. I’ve never seen a shelter with this specialty. Another, next level, cool thing, is that the pizza place next to them donates and gives a percentage to the shelter. Sometimes you can find a play area for the pups on the patio at the pizza place. What a great collabo idea!

Dropped off dog beds, crates, houses a couple of weeks ago during week day. Limited staff on duty, however, helped off load items for use in facility or donate to prospective owners of their rescue dogs. My daughter has been volunteering regularly for a few years and is totally amazed with this facility and their programs. The “Pizza to the Rescue” restaurant also donates a percentage of pizza sales to help the center.

I can’t say anything about the adoption process because I haven’t adopted from there, but the puppy yoga was a blast. I personally did not do any yoga but there were people who did. The puppies appeared happy and healthy. They loved being around people and were having as much fun as the people playing with them.

I saw my new puppy on their website, and reached out to he number listed on their site. They were quick to respond, very friendly, and helpful. I scheduled an appointment to meat the puppies the day they became available for adoption. The place is unassuming from the outside, just a large box warehouse; but inside you find an interior that is built completely around their dogs. From the large massive play area, to the many spacious rooms peppered around the building, where each potential adopter can meet their new adoptee.

The staff was super friendly, not a one walked by without saying hello. They brought my first choice in to see me, and I spent a good amount of time cuddling, and getting lots of puppy loves. Yay stinky puppy breath, if you know you know. My wife made me see other puppies from the litter but the choice wasn’t even close. The staff swapped dogs, and helped me to greet each one. Otherwise they left me alone with the dog, only a buzzer away if I needed anything. I should note that they took incredible care to ensure their puppies were safe, requiring us to sanitize, and don protective booties, lest we track in anything which could make them sick. I genuinely felt that they were there first and foremost, and adoption secondly. I said the building was built around their charges, well the staff were equally aligned.

From first arriving, to departing with my new best friend, the entire experience was effortless, and I couldn’t be any happier. Photos are of my new puppy, name still forthcoming.

Such a well-run organization doing such compassionate and important work for our community! We are proud to be a part of the volunteer and foster programs, and look forward to continued involvement 🙂

Almost There, is 5 ⭐️! They found great homes for my puppies. They are amazingly compassionate and caring. I recommend them for for displaced pets or for donations!

ATR is a truly incredible rescue. Their focus is specialized — pregnant and nursing mama dogs and their pups. This allows ATR to invest in niche-specific facilities, knowledge, connections, resources, and programming.

Their physical facility is by far the most well-maintained and thoughtfully-designed of any rescue I’ve seen. Separate wings for quarantine vs. healthy pups, with separate HVAC systems. Large room-like kennels with drains built in. Clean shoe covers for every kennel to prevent the spread of disease. Dedicated office and volunteer management space. Behaviorists on-staff.

The result of all this thoughtful design and planning? A rescue that is able to help a huge number of dogs. A well-organized and thriving volunteer and foster program. Pups that are well-socialized and best-prepared for success in their new homes. A wide network of “alumni” adopters.

If you’re looking to bring a pup into your home; if you are interested in special events like puppy yoga or puppy parties; if you are looking for somewhere to volunteer — ATR is an amazing resource.

We adopted our beloved pup from ATR, and I now volunteer at the rescue. Cannot recommend it highly enough! 🙂

The staff they have here is amazing. They are very thorough with the process & keep you informed. They have a passion for these animals & their owners. Addresses concerns promptly, allowing little room for errors with “special” furbabies that are petrified. The care they provide helps keep pet populations down at a VERY good price. My furbabies are recovering nicely. Thank you Arizona Humane Society!

Some of the other people who worked there were not rude but also not very nice at the same time. I guess we had walked into a room with dogs that were not available yet and the guy seemed mad about it.. but the door was wide open and someone else was walking around looking too! Standoffish people make me reciprocate the emotion. So minus one star for that. Plus 475 for adoption seems like a bit much plus they ask for donation and add pet insurance. I know having animals is costly but 700 dollsrs to walk out the door with a pet plus all the food and accessories ill have to buy is crazy. Where i moved from pets were never more than 125. Even puppies.

But overall were mainly happy with our experience and happy with our pup

After losing our best furry friend we went to the sunnyslope location to look at dogs. We found “jacob” a 5 month old husky mix. He’s now enjoying the good life in the Midwest with his dog sibling. We are thankful for finding him! The adoption process was super easy, staff was friendly and the $500 vet credit was helpful to clear up a few small things. I recommend AZ humane society to anyone looking to adopt!

Took my pup Sparky to the Arizona Humane Society for his shots and had a great experience! The staff was super kind and gentle with him, and everything was quick and smooth. Grateful for affordable care and friendly faces—Sparky says thanks too!

We took the newest additions to our family here to be neutered, 2 male kittens. The staff take very good care of your fur babies and the cost is affordable. They did send me an invoice that did not fix where one of our kittens that we thought was female was actually male, but when I went inside to speak with them they fixed the invoice immediately.

I’ve gotten several cats fixed here over the years and it’s always been a smooth process.

My pet didn’t receive the care he was there for and they didn’t inform me until after I called to ask about it 19 hrs later.

I know it’s cliche to say but I would give 0 stars if it was possible. Took my 18 week old BOY kitten in to be neutered yesterday and the experience was awful. Got there at 8:27, as was my appointment time, to a line of at least 12 people at their cats. I figured the line wouldn’t be too long so I stood there with my carrier. After about 30 minutes of standing in line, dripping in sweat because it was at least 95 degrees in the blistering sun, one of the check in ladies told us to come inside and wrap the line around in the small packed lobby. As flies fly around me I started to wonder why I didn’t just take him somewhere cleanlier and more organized but you get WHAT YOU PAY FOR. The check in process was fine and the employee was kind to me despite how chaotic it was in there. She told me my check out time and I kissed my kitten goodbye.

Come 4:15 when I went to pick him up, they start calling off names of cats to the large group of people who were standing there. All girl names which I thought was odd but dismissed. They got to the end of the names and my kittens name hadn’t been called yet so I went to another employee to ask if there was a mistake. They searched the list of names to not see his name and then told me “don’t worry we will find her”.

So this raised some more alarms in my head , they eventually found him and then told me that SHE has a grade 3-6 heart murmur and you’ll want to make an appointment with the vet to do a follow-up. He was bundled up in his blankie so I figured he was drowsy from the anesthesia and went on my way back home.

Here is where things got weird. I brought him home and took him out of his carrier to see no cone (paid for it), no pain medicine (requested that too) and he was up and ready to play. Well that’s odd but I put him in his crate and monitored him. Almost started to wonder how he was so active after surgery . I called the vet to try and talk with someone about getting his cone because I didn’t want him to lick at his incision but I didn’t receive a call back . He continued to be active and eating normally for the rest of the night so I figured he was just a super kitty

Next morning (today), I was still wondering how he was acting so normally. After looking around for a little I realized he STILL had his testicles. AND again I think thats very odd because he was supposed to be neutered yesterday. I try calling the vet a couple times and then I text the help number. Finally at 11 today I got some answers. My cat was not neutered, my cat was not given his microchip and my cat (not having all of his vaccines yet) sat in the kennels from 9am-4:30pm despite me calling to check on him around 11:30 am when they call me to tell me he “hadn’t gone back for surgery yet but they will call me if anything changes and he’s done quicker”. As I am talking to the employee from the humane society she keeps lying to me then putting me on hold and switching what she is saying.

All in all, NOTHING was communicated to me while I trusted them with his life. When I picked him up NOTHING was said to me about how he never got surgery or his chip. Even on the online portal it says he is neutered. Everything about this place is suspicious and if you can afford to go somewhere else you should because your pets are NOT receiving the best care.

I will say staff is very friendly, but….

The waiting process at this location is UNACCEPTABLE. Living in the desert, standing in line at 8AM when it’s already 90 degrees puts both pet owners and animals at risk. The check-in process is chaotic, unwelcoming, and stressful for pets—causing unnecessary and extreme anxiety. A better system would be allowing owners to wait in their cars with their pets and be notified by text or call when it’s their turn, checking in a few at a time with a technician.

It’s frustrating that staff were setting up tents while we were already waiting outside with no shade for our animals. The clinic should be ready and organized before clients arrive. Additionally, the number of procedures performed daily (we were told 50–100) is ALARMING—this high volume raises concerns about sanitation, safety, and the risk of infection.

Important paperwork, such as for short-snout dogs, should also be provided upfront rather than surprising owners at the clinic with an additional $25 fee. Transparency is critical, but instead, the process feels disorganized and profit-driven.

While I am grateful our dog was ultimately turned away as not being a good candidate, it confirmed my uneasy feelings. We will not be returning to this location and urge the clinic to seriously reconsider how they handle intake, animal welfare, and overall safety.

We adopted our little chihuahua from Mini Mighty Mutts and had the best experience. I spoke with his foster mom as both he and his brother were available for adoption. When I shared that I already had 2 other Chihuahuas, she knew his personality would be the better fit. She was right — he’s been amazing. I received all the necessary paperwork and continue to share updates with the organization. I love what they do and how hard Mini Mighty Mutts works to place their dogs in the right home.

I adopted my dog Kisses from Mini Mighty Mutts. Her previous owner was being moved to assisted living and couldn’t keep her dog any longer. She was devastated, of course. However, she was thrilled the rescue would foster Kisses and find her a new home. That prior summer my Mom had gone into assisted living and had to give up her dogs to another family member, so I knew I needed to meet Kisses. The rescue had volunteers transport her from California to Phoenix & she was checked out by the vet. When I met Kisses, I knew she was home. I took pictures of Kisses in her new forever home and asked the rescue to send them on to the previous owner so she could rest assured her fur baby was well taken care of. This rescue group is full of big hearted volunteers. Thank you for all you do!

It’s been almost two years since we adopted Taffy from Mini Mighty Mutts! Before we adopted her, I followed MMM on Instagram for about a year. We met with one other dog before Taffy, but it wasn’t a good match with our dog. Taffy was recommended to us. Taffy was rescued after she was found with dog bites and a broken leg. She ended up getting it amputated. Lori and Mini Mighty Mutts took such good care of her before she went home with us! I recommend Mini Mighty Mutts to all of my friends looking for a dog.

I adopted Jessie from Mini Mighty Mutts almost 4 years ago. I love how invested all of the volunteers are in the well-being of the dogs and the time they take to ensure their fosters are going to good homes. They were quick to respond and provided me with all of the information I needed to make sure Jessie had a smooth transition.

We are so incredibly happy with our baby girl Chewina. Her foster mom had videos of her on face book and we fell in love with her instantly. She is so smart and listens well. We were very happy to have found her through mini mighty mutts. She’s amazing and so are they. She moved from Arizona to Ohio in January of 2017 and did not have a problem with our fridged Ohio weather. Her last weigh in was 3 lbs 11 oz. thank you mini mighty mutts and Lori Johnston Hinojosa your a great team.

While I love my puppy, the process wasn’t handled all that well. It wasn’t made clear at the time of the home visit the puppy would be given to the applicant. The puppy was dropped off with no food or leash, no puppy pads, and it was late on a Saturday. Fortunately, there was one pet store open late, and of course the recommended food was only available online. I was told to feed the puppy twice a day, but when I asked the vet he said 3-4 times a day. Also, I was told the puppy “acts” as though he was abused, but he really wasn’t. But, his mannerisms and consistent fear tell a different story. I feel I wasn’t told everything about the puppy’s past. When I fostered my first puppy, I gave them food, the carrying bag, and the puppy pads to help them on their journey just as good customer service. I guess everyone is different.

Terrible. We met with Patty on Saturday morning and found a dog that my seven year old boy fell in love with. Patty promised us that she would bring the dog by the next day and not let anyone else submit an application. Sunday comes around and we call Patty, no answer, we text and she replies that she was taking the dog to meet another family and that we were out of luck. We are life long dog owners, live on an acre of land with horses, chickens and another dog that is 5 years old and very good with kids and other dogs. This was absolutely devistating for my son who thought Emily was going to be the newest member of our family. If I could give zero stars I would and a person with this little integrity has no business caring for animals.
