I called to see if they could help me with my taxes and to schedule an appointment. A lady picked up and spoke Spanish and I asked if she spoke English. She started speaking Spanish again, not sure if it was to me or someone else there, then was hung up on. If someone wants to respond in a timely manner with a phone number to someone I can talk to, im more than willing to do so.

Usually I file my taxes myself at home because I only have W2 to enter. This year I had a few different forms to enter and had no idea how to do and it honestly stressed me out. So I went to Jackson Hewitt and a very nice lady named Anna helped me and even gave me some tips on how to track my driving for my second job. Everything happens for a reason. I live in Tempe and drove to the location on Osborn in Phoenix, but they weren’t there. I was familiar with this location because it’s close to my moms house and I was headed there anyway. My service here has been greater than any service I’ve had with H&R Block. It went smoothly because I was for the most part prepared. I had Diarra as my tax agent and she was awesome. My experience was quick, easy and she made it not stressful. I sat back, answered her questions and I was done within an hour. I don’t know much about taxes and deductibles and how they work now that I am married and filing with my husband, but Diarra explained it all to me and I’m so thankful and appreciate her service so much. Will be filing with her next year! 🙂

Worst place I had an appointment scheduled for my Taxes with Gina Green and she never showed up door was close and lights off. Was waiting for an hour and never show up. I wasn’t the only one waiting for her. This is just ridiculous. I been coming with H&R for years but never had this experience this is yet I’m going somewhere else for my taxes instead!

H&r block is a super rip off. You’ll never get your money on the emerald card it’s a complete rip off. H&r block rips dumb people off. Cuz you’re truly dumb if you go here like me

I have come here 3 years in a row to file my taxes I have always worked with Carmen and she has been amazing. unfortunately today when I went in there all I needed was a replacement card Carmen wasn’t in there was only two tax professionals and one was going to be leaving a new card was taking a few minutes the one that was leaving refused to help me and the one that was left just couldn’t have time because she had too many times to see. Normally I wouldn’t leave her bad review for that but the one lady literally could have done it and it would have taken her 5 minutes and it just seemed very very unkind considering I just come from working 12 hours at a hospital and I just needed to get a new card.

Convenient. Done in timely manner, with all questions asked & answered. Helpful while also be thorough throughout process. Big Shout out to all who helped. Thank you!….again.

Went in to get taxes done. Dropped our stuff off. The lady was done within 30 minutes only to find out that we were going to be charged $400 for doing 30 minutes of work and we owed over 2K in taxes?! When I tried to understand why, the lady told me because of the stimulus check(s) we got due to COVID. Uhhh NO ONE IS SUPPOSED TO BE TAXED ON THAT! IRS EVEN SAYS SO! Walked out. Never going back.

My refund check was either lost or stolen while in possession of USPS. I have been fighting with Arizona door for 2 months to get it reissued. First they told me I had to wait a month I waited a month and then called back to get it reissued. Today I called back again trying to see what’s going on with it and where it is just to find out it wasn’t reissued. This is absolutely ridiculous, I’ve called multiple times and today they told me they’re going to expedite my case. I want to know why that wasn’t done earlier, if we don’t pay them quick the levee fines and fees, how do I recoup my fees for not being paid in a timely fashion. How do I recoup my time spent on the phone trying to get this taken care of. This is absolutely a joke. I would gladly have more money taken out of my refund to have this sent certified mail or with some sort of tracking on it. But they absolutely refused to help any other way.
Edit: I did to request direct deposit Arizona department of revenue changed to a check. Still no update still haven’t seen my nobody in this department can give me an answer of when I’m actually going to get the check. I’ve called probably six times on this issue and every time it’s the same story oh it takes up to a month to do the blah blah blah blah blah. What it comes down to is you owe me money, and you’re not paying it so where is my fees and fines where is my late fees that I deserve because if I didn’t pay you you charged me late fees.

The sales tax collection system might be fine for giant corporations, but for tiny businesses with an owner as the sole employee it is incredibly time consuming, confusing, error-prone, lacking in any kind of support and the flat-fee penalties for making a mistake and paying late can quickly add up to owing many, many times the missed payment if the initial amount owed was small.

I was served a subpoena requiring I appear in two weeks at a place that will require a 200 mile round trip on a day which I had already scheduled an important commitment in my local area. I was given a contact person and told if I talk to them I may not have to actually appear. I have every intention of cooperating and paying what I legitimately owe, but I have questions. Over the past 12 days I have sent 4 emails and left 3 voice mails, plus another for the person’s supervisor. I have received no response whatsoever. I am supposed to appear the day after tomorrow.

The lack of any sort of professionalism or guidance is inexcusable. This agency does not understand that every business isn’t Walmart, we don’t all have full time accountants. With the amount of money they are assessing in penalties and interest (3.5 times the initial amount that my business owed) you think they could afford to find someone to answer a phone. Had I known how difficult and punitive this process would be, I never would have started a retail business in the state of AZ.

Update: Finally, after 2 weeks of leaving messages, someone got back to me just 24 hours before I was supposed to appear. I explained that I hoped I could pay what I owe and avoid having to appear in person. The representative (who was polite and pleasant, at least) said that yes, this would be possible and then quoted me an amount owed that was 50% higher than the amount I had been provided on the written notice I had received two weeks prior. When I called out this discrepancy he said (and this is very close to an exact quote) “it’s certainly possibly that the previous number is correct, our systems do not always reflect accurate numbers.”

Oh, the IRONY!!! Especially because one of the outstanding items they are going after me for was caused by an error on my part that left $1.37 unpaid (the original amount owed that month was around $300 and all but the $1.37 was paid on time). This $1.37 has since ballooned to over $70 in penalties and interest because I made a small error, yet I’m supposed to be ok with their system being inaccurate about what I owe?!

So now I wait while they try to figure out what I actually owe, which may or may not be what I was told in writing that I owed and was prepared to pay. Meanwhile, I am left with ZERO trust in Arizona’s joke of a Department of Revenue. It seems to be using 1990s technology, and is not only punitive and unforgiving toward small businesses, but utterly incompetent themselves. Yet we have no recourse. Reform is BADLY needed!!!

I am very unfamiliar with taxes my husband did all taxes and he cannot do anymore. Daniel was the gentleman i spoke to today. He explained all my questions, took the time to help me process payment and answer all my questions. He was wonderful. Made a senior very happy. He should get a raise.

I got a TPT license to do one market, paid my taxes and canceled my license. Now after 10 phone calls roughly an hour each, over six months. I keep accruing late charges and fees even though I’ve canceled my license. I go on their pathetic website and it shows that my status is closed. My balance is zero and my pending payments are zero yet, I get a letter once a month with a new charge and a new penalty. I have so many hot ticket numbers. I’ve talked to so many people that all assure me that everything’s paid and they will send me a receipt showing that I have a balance of zero but they never send it. They just send another bill with more fees on it. I’m telling all you small businesses out there don’t pay your taxes. Don’t be legit because they’ll just punish you for it. Take your money and put it in your pocket where it belongs.

AZ doesn’t allow you to be on hold or to receive a call back. Don’t even try calling after 10am, because you won’t get through to anyone. Just the automated system telling you to call back later. Be better AZ. Thanks!
