I was given a referral to The Stone Law Group, which I really needed. My boss had highly recommended Mr. Stone’s office. So I gave them a quick call, spoke with a nice and professional man on the phone. I was able to come in the next day to have a consultation with Mr. Stone. Since I’m married and Arizona is a community property state, my husband was required to come along with me. So we both met with Mr. Stone and were greeted with a smile with the receptionist along with offered a bottle of water. Great way to feel welcomed!!

Update: I am updating the review from 1 stars to 3 now, I appreciate the lawyer contacting me and explaining his policies, however I was not in agreement with his policies, he is stating that he does not have paralegals in his office. Hopefully one day he will. I do appreciate he wanted to make it better, so that is another reason why I have changed my 1 star review, but his secretary did make me mad. I think they can improve on a few things, but that is their decision.

Nobody wants to go through a bankruptcy and it can be very overwhelming! Stone Law Group and the whole team were everything I needed them to be, very helpful and thorough. My experience with this law firm hasn’t been the best. I initially became frustrated by the lack of responses to my emails. It would take more than a week to receive a response and in some cases up to a month. After my initial consultation Cy would respond to emails almost immediately but after I retained his services and signed a contract I noticed a dramatic difference in the communication. Most recently I’ve become frustrated with fees such as payment date change fees and late fees. I do regret choosing this firm and wish I had done more research on the firm.

Cy was quite honest and helpful answering questions that many would consider to be low level. He inspires confidence and offers peace of mind in addition to solid, functional advice. Would work with Cy again if the situation should arise.

Never have I ever had to leave a 1 star for any company in my entire life, but I would highly caution anyone from working with Hilltop, specifically Cy Hainey.
I reached out to the firm, back in April, and my case was accepted. Cy assured me we would have weekly 15min meetings until the case was complete, no more than 30-60 days.

In the seven weeks (yes, a month and a half) Cy was late to one meeting by over 30mins, and completely ghosted the next three. Every single meeting, I had to eventually email or call the office to inform that I had been forgotten. This happened literally EVERY SCHEDULED meeting we had, outside of the first. When I would finally get home on the phone, he would say “Wait, what was your case about again?” Once I reminded him which one of his clients I was and what my case was about, he would schedule another “follow up” about a week out- forget me and my appointment again, and the cycle would repeat. I eventually got concerned because I expressed to Cy that I am in the first time home buyer program and needed the credit situation resolved by late summer, to which he agreed was very possible to be done by June (again, this was in April) so I emailed the team professionally to voice my concerns. I expressed that I really wanted to work with the team, I was just confused on the non-communication and requested that on my next follow up, Cy actually bring some progressive information to the table, as we had been going in the same cycle for weeks. The one sentence response I received to my well thought out and professional email was: “I’ve decided not to move forward with your case”. After two months of me being told, “next week I’ll have a follow up for you” or, “my legal team is looking over everything and will have an update soon” and when the meeting is missed and I have to call the office to get Cy, I’m met with a “wait, who are you? What was case about again?”

It seems that Cy Hainey, Hilltop Law Firm, or both, bite off more than they can chew. Or, they simply do not care about their clients- at all.

Cy and his parelegal Sam were amazing throughout this whole process. Although I was still stressed they made things less stressful in many different ways. If you’re thinking about filing for bankruptcy I definitely recommend this law firm.
